to teaching both children and adults how to swim in a fun positive
environment. Our Bay Shore school, located in the Amritraj Health
& Racquet Club, offers swim lessons for infants, children, and
adults. All of our instructors are personally trained by Coach Jim
Finley and Coach Kathy in the most up-to-date swimming
techniques. We utilize custom drills, techniques, and insight to
help swimmers overcome many of the obstacles that prevent them from
. Many of our students who begin swim lessons as infants continue
swimming with us for many years, developing and refining their
strokes and techniques. Since our inception, we have grown from
part-time organization providing lessons to several swimmers to our
current location at the Amritraj Health Club where we teach over
250 swimmers per week.

sponsored by the American Swimming Coaches Association. Our
SwimAmerica program is located within the Amritraj Health
and Racquet Club in Bay Shore. Please go to Location to see
directions & a map. Lessons are provide in 3 shifts during the

Saturday morning and afternoon.
Our Facility – Our pool at the Amritraj
Health and Racquet Club is ideal for swimming lessons. Measuring
20’x40’ the pool ranges from 4’ deep near the
step entrance to 5’ deep in the middle. Most swimmers over 5
years old can stand in the shallow end. For those that cannot
stand, pre-schoolers and infant/toddlers, we have swim platforms
that are placed strategically across the pool. Pool temperature is
a comfortable 88 – 90 degrees F. Locker rooms are clean,
pleasant and located immediately adjacent to the pool.
Changing Rooms - For Mothers with sons and Fathers
with daughters, we have a separate changing area adjacent to the
pool. Children 5 & over are not allowed in opposite sex locker
rooms.
Parents Viewing Area – While parents are not
allowed in the pool area during lessons due to space and
distractions, we encourage parents to watch from the viewing area.
The pool is enclosed by windows on two sides, and there are couches
and benches so that you to sit and watch your child’s lesson
comfortably.
Free SwimAmerica Swim Suit - Your first
suit is provide free of charge when you register for lessons. All
swimmers are required to wear their Speedo SwimAmerica
swim suit during lessons. SwimAmerica swim suits are part
of their technical equipment that we use to help your child learn
to swim. The suits are designed to shed water. Many fashion suits
or shorts are baggy and retain water, making it harder to learn. We
also encourage swim caps & goggles. If for any reason you need
a new or additional suit, they may be purchased at additional
cost.
*Parents are required to stay in the building during swimming
lessons.
