About Us

  • Rockford Marlins Swim Club is a competitive age group swim team for athletes age 6 through college age. We have a program to meet the needs of every competitive swimmer, from beginning swimmers who can swim 25 yards, one length of the pool, freestyle and backstroke, to National Level swimmers.

    Practice Groups:

    White Group: This group is for the beginning competitive swimmer. The swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards of both freestyle and backstroke nonstop. Practices are designed to teach the four competitive strokes, starts, and turns. These swimmers practice 1 hour up to 3 days per week.

    Blue Group: This group is for those who have mastered the skills required in White. The focus of this group is to improve technique and improve fitness. These swimmers practice 1 1/2 hours up to 5 days per week.

    Red Group: This group is designed for the experienced competitive swimmer that has advanced beyond the Blue Group. The focus of this group is to improve technique and improve conditioning. This group swims up to 6 days per week for 2 hours with dryland training during fall, winter and spring. In the summer the group trains up to 6 days per week with double practices Monday-Friday.

    Senior Group: This group is designed for the competitive swimmer age 13 and over who is prepared for a highly structured and demanding program of training and competition while still focusing on technique. This group trains up to 9 practices per week during fall, winter and spring for 2 to 2 1/2 hours with dryland and morning workouts. In the summer the group trains up to 11 practices per week, 6 days a week.

    National Team: This group is for swimmers that have qualified for Sectionals, Jr Nationals, Nationals, Olympic Trials. Emphasis will be on improving technique, training for high level competition and developing team leadership skills. This group trains up to 6 days per week with 9 to 11 two and a half hour practices including mornings, dryland and meetings as required.

    Coaches assign athletes to the proper group after a placement tryout.
