Join the Islanders

If you are interested in joining the team. Please click here to contact us. We also hold an annual Open House event to invite novice and experienced swimmers. The open house is held usually around spring, and is announced on our Facebook page. The swim novice program runs around 8 weeks and is a way to welcome swimmers and their families to the Islander swim community.  After the novice program ends, swimmers are welcome to continue in our year-round swim season. Refer to the membership handbook on the LINKS page for volunteer requirements and other info.

For the rest of the year, interested swimmers are welcome to contact our membership chair person to arrange an appointment to be assessed by our coach. (membership@alamedaislanders.org). Swimmers who successfully pass the swim assessment are able to join our swim community.

Minimim requirements: Swimmers must pass our coach's evaluation in order to join the team. We expect swimmers to be capable of demonstrating basic competency in order to join the Islanders. (e.g. swim 25 yards freestyle). Therefore, if your child needs beginner swim lessons, please contact the nearest swim facility to get started.
