Head Coach
Email
Sarah Kudaba has been involved in
the swimming community for the past 19 years either as a swimmer, a
coach, or a proud sister in the stands.
I am going into what is to be my
third season as part of the Sunfish family, and I can honestly say
I have never felt so at home! The families are great, and everyone
is so supportive of each other. I have enjoyed all the great times
we have had, including the Movie Nights, Away Swim Meets, Group Fun
Days, and of course the amazing swims at all of the swim meets
across the province.
Some of my favorite Sunfish
memories have been taking my Group 5’s to a Bikram Yoga class
followed by an awesome day at the beach, as well as watching some
of our young swimmers compete at their first swim meet. The
greatest moments though are when as a coach I get to watch a
swimmer achieve the goals they have set for themselves, those
moments are the reason I stand on deck every morning at 6am with a
smile on my face.

Jacquie Bascomb has been swimming
with the North Delta Sunfish for 16 years and has loved every
single minute of it!
The Sunfish have been a big part
of my life. Sunfish has given me an awesome group of friends, great
learning experiences, and has helped me become the person I am
today, in and out of the pool.
My favorite Sunfish adventure is
the Family Fun Day! All the Sunfish families come out and
participate in tons of games, and sometimes if they’re lucky,
a HUGE water fight! I hope to see LOTS of new Sunfish this season,
so come on out and have some fun!

Michelle Sander
Senior Coach
Email
My name is Michelle Sander and I
have been with the Sunfish for nearly eight summers now. I had just
finished grade eight when my mom decided that it would be a good
way for me to keep busy for the summer. Little did she know that
she had just signed me up for the most challenging and yet, the
most rewarding times of my life. I was welcomed with open arms, and
after that, I never looked back.
The Sunfish are a group of
dedicated children and parents that can only be described as a
family of athletes. From sitting in the bleachers cheering on their
little ones, to plotting a water fight ambush, our parents are
there. As for our swimmers? Whether they are “in the
zone” at a swim meet or struggling to figure out which way
their suit goes on before an early morning practice, you can bet
that they’ll be smiling. We love what we do, and we’d
love for you to join The Sunfish Family.

Kaylee Lachance
Senior Coach

Most of you probably know me, as
I’ve been with the club for 12 years now! But for those of
you who don’t I’m Kaylee Lachance, Group 2’s
Coach for the summer of 2009.
Swimming has been a significant
part of my life ever since my parents put me in it when I was 6
years old, it was one of the best things they’ve done for me.
Just after the first few weeks I knew it was an environment that
I’d love. Over the years I’ve made great friends and
become a part family with memories that’ll last me a life
time. Each summer in filled with events that both swimmers and
families enjoy, my favourite always being our Beach Day where
everyone can sit down, laugh and be a little crazy out in the
sun.
Whether we’re at the pool
for practice at 6am, or packing up from a day at a meet our club is
a group of dedicated families who are their to see their children
learn, succeed, and have a fun time along the way. With every
summer comes new memories and experiences, I hope I can help make
them the best for you all!

Tallis Hobbs
Senior Coach
Email
Hey there everyone. My name
is Tallis Hobbs (yes like the tiger) and this is my first year
coaching here in North Delta as well as in the Fraser South
Region. Although I may seem like a new face to many of you,
I’ve been coaching summer swimming since the summer of 2001
when I started as the assistance coach of the Lumby
Lightning. After a couple summer I moved clubs to coach in
Revelstoke with the Aquaducks. However after being a part of
the Okanagan for so many years it was time for a change.
Swimmers had grown up and moved on, coaches had come and gone and
it was now my turn for a new and exciting challenge.
This summer I am extremely excited
to be coaching once again for a club that equilibrates the
competitive and fun aspects of summer swimming. I feel that I
will be a perfect fit for the Sunfish as I am without a doubt the
first to have fun, but also take my own goals and those of my
swimmers very seriously.
I look forward to meeting
absolutely every one of you this summer and becoming a real part of
the Sunfish team.

Nav Sohi
Water Polo Coach
Email
Nav Sohi has been
involved in water polo for past 8 years. He started playing
water polo in 2002; the highlight of his career was in Montreal
when his cadet team won Gold at the Canadian
Nationals.
He has been
coaching with the Sunfish Water Polo program since it was
introduced in 2005 and has coached with multiple clubs in the last
few years. In 2007 he was the head coach for the North Delta summer
season. During this time both the atom and cadet team won gold and
bantams won silver at the regionals. The teams were also very
successful at provincials. The atom team went on to win gold and
the cadet team to win the bronze.
I am currently
attending the University of Fraser Valley and studying for a degree
in Kinesiology. I hope to one day become a
physiotherapist.
I began coaching
because I love seeing the players succeed. Whether it is a finish
off of a break away or a block on defence, the smile a player shows
after an accomplishment fuels my passion for
coaching.
I love water polo
and hope to build the skills and passion for water polo in young
athletes to help them succeed. I hope all of you are ready for
another fun season playing water polo and to develop your skills to
become great water polo players. I look forward to seeing you on
the pool deck.

Emmy Wynder
Water Polo Coach
Email
My name is Emmy, like the award. I
have been coaching sunfish water polo for over 5 seasons including
summer and winter. I myself have been involved with water polo for
just over 6 years now.
I started out in a swim club found
it boring, because i was slow and i wasn’t allowed to talk.
The club I swam for offered waterpolo on saturday mornings instead
of swimming practice, which i was very happy with, because I was
always looking for a reason not to swim and I instantly fell in
love with the sport.
I started playing with the Surrey
orcas and other regional clubs, and shortly joined Storm, an elite
club of BC. I played with this team for a couple years, and we even
won cadet Nationals my first year playing. As i got older I began
to coach within the Surrey club for a couple seasons. After the
sunfish water polo club was up and running for a couple seasons, i
quickly joined as a junior coach.
I am looking forward to starting a
new and exciting season, and I am really looking forward to all the
new and interesting faces that will show up on deck eager to
join.

I have been swimming with sunfish
for about eight years; I was a volunteer coach for five years and I
have loved every second of it. I currently attend Sands Secondary
School. I’m currently working towards my life guard
certifications. I’m hoping to have them all by the summer of
2010. I have already completed my Bronze Medallion and Bronze
Cross. My favorite stroke, though I do love them all, is
butterfly.

My name is Jaffa Winick. I have
been swimming with Sunfish for about 8 years now and coaching for
about 5 years (I think). I'm not really sure, but its been a long
time. And with each summer I love it even more. I am attending
Sands Secondary School and I'm in grade nine (as of the 08/09
year). I am working towards my life guard, as well as loving every
moment of life right now. I love to swim, coach and play
water-polo, and Sunfish is a place where I can do all three of
those things.
