Brian Yu

Age Group Coach

Email

Coach Brian has spent just over a decade of his life as a competitive swimmer, starting when he was 8 years old.  Growing up in the Hi-Desert, Brian swam with Desert Aquatics and Mirage Aquatics in the Eastern Section of Southern California Swimming.  Later on in his career, he trained with the Bakersfield Swim Club and the Irvine Aquazots.

At age 12, Brian qualified to be a member of Southern California Swimming’s 1998 Zone All-Star Team as a freestyle sprinter in Federal Way, Washington.  There he competed against other swimmers from other various regions of the Western United States.  Brian attended Serrano High School in Phelan, CA, and despite not having a high school swim team, Brian still competed in CIF competitions and represented his high school by swimming as a free-lance swimmer.  As a result, he qualified and competed in the CIF Southern Section Finals for two consecutive years.  He was the first swimmer from Serrano High School to ever do this.

Brian is currently a graduate student at Cal State Fullerton, working on his M.S. in Clinical Psychology.  He graduated from the University of California, Irvine with his B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior in 2007.  His chosen area of specialty is in Sports/Performance Psychology.
