Randy Trowbridge

Head Coach

Email

Randy has been VAC’s head coach since 1986.  He has had extensive background as coach and swimmer after first beginning his swimming in Washington State. By the time Randy finished a college swimming scholarship in 1977, he had already coached at the YMCA and USS level. Subsequently he broadened his experience, coaching at a college and several more USS teams in Washington state, where his teams became recognized for their fine stroke technique. Randy can be credited with having guided VAC to its highest level of achievement, culminating with one of his athletes setting an American record in 1997.

Michael B Hruska

Assisant Coach

Email

Over the course of Mike’s 15 year swimming career he has been exposed to numerous high level programs. He began swimming competitively with VAC when he was eight and swam with the program through high school and most of college.  Swim time away from VAC during high school included four seasons with the Verona Area High School swim team and a one summer stint with the Seminole Sharks.  His accomplishments lead him to a swimming scholarship with the Wisconsin Badgers for a season, along with two summers at their club team, the Wisconsin Aquatics. From here he decided to finish up his three seasons of college swimming with the UW- La Crosse Eagles.  Each of these experiences has exposed him to different insights into training and competing within the sport.  He has begun to put this evolving knowledge to use while coaching two summers with the All-City league Nakoma Orangeheads, teaching lessons at the Little Strokes Swim Academy, and now coaching with the Verona Aquatic Club.

Madison Memorial holds claim to having one of the top high school programs in the state for both men’s and women’s swimming. He now joins the coaching staff eager to share his knowledge and passion for the sport.
