Highly respected for his
enthusiasm and passion for the sport amongst his coaching peers,
Coach Rose is in his 3rd year with the Palatine Park District Tiger
Sharks. In Andy’s first three years, PPD has come to
produce some of the finest swimmers in Illinois and the team has
shown remarkable improvement in all areas, had 5 meets with at
least a top 6 Junior Olympic team finish and a Speedo Sectional
team title.
Rose came to PPD from the
National powerhouse Sarasota YMCA Sharks Swim Team. Prior to
being in the Sunshine State, Rose was the Head Coach of the
BR Ryall / NW DuPage YMCA Swim Team in Glen
Ellyn. In his leadership at BR Ryall, his senior
athletes won four consecutive Illinois Senior Championship team
titles, four consecutive YMCA State Championship team titles
and perennial top ten finish at YMCA Nationals. Between
2004-2006, BRRY athletes scored more points in Illinois
Championship meets than any other programs in the LSC. Coach
Rose has been coaching at the National level since 1998, and has
coached at several prominent programs including Michiana Marlins as
Head Age Group Coach, Cincinnati Marlins as a Senior Coach,
Northern Kentucky Clippers as Head Senior Coach.
Andy has coached all levels of
athletes from the Novice swimmers to Olympic Trial
Qualifiers. A native of Southwest Florida, Coach Rose enjoys
Frisbee golf, is a capable golfer on the links... and supports the
Cincinnati Reds! Coach rose is a member of the Illinois
Swimming Age Group Committee.

Glenn Brown

Head Age Group Coach
Coach Brown is in his third year with the PPD Tiger Sharks. In his
first year he assisted with the senior program and led the TAG 2
group to many successes. Brown grew up here in Chicagoland having
swam for Homewood Flossmoor HS, and the Joliet Jets YMCA Swim Team,
Glenn swam for Drury University and earned All-American honors in
both breaststroke events his sophomore year. Glenn’s last
coaching position was with the Naperville YMCA Swim team, as Head
Age Group coach. While with NAPY, he coached numerous athletes to
sectional, state and even national championships. Swimming is in
Glenn’s blood as his father was a coach when Glenn was
younger and his brother is assistant head coach of the YMCA
National champion Sarasota Shark YMCA swim team in
Florida
. Glenn led our program to a team 4th place finish at
this past winters Junior Olympic Championships having swimmers win
many medals and make many speedo sectional time standards. PPD is
proud to have Coach Brown as our Head Age Group
Coach.

Dan Cempel

Coach Dan Cempel – Lead Senior

Coach
Dan is in his 2nd season with the team. Dan is ASCA level 2
certified and level 3 educated. Dan will work primarily with the
Senior Group. His last coaching position was with the Joliet YMCA
Jets where he spent 14 years and was the head age group
coach. Dan began coaching in 1980 and has coached many levels of
swimmers, from novice to YMCA national qualifiers to finalists at
Age Group State. Dan has also had swimmers make the YMCA top 16
list. It is Dan’s passion of swimming that has contributed to
his swimming and coaching accomplishments. Dan’s favorite
event to swim was the 200 butterfly .Dan has two daughters, Laura
who swims for the Tiger Sharks and will swim for the
University
of

fall, and Sarah who swims for
Northern
Michigan
University
wehre
she is team captain.

Tony M Gallagher

Head Developmental Coach
Coach Tony Gallagher returns to the Tiger
Sharks this fall as our Head Developmental Coach. Gallagher has
three seasons experience as an assistant coach for PPD, and in the
last year was an assistant coach at
Western
Illinois
University
, The University of Georgia Swim
Camps, and in his home town with Munster Swim Club. Gallagher is
looking forward to his new challenges of leading the charge with
our youngest athletes here at PPD. A strong seasonal plan in
stroke mechanics, and progression throughout the program. Before
PPD Tony was an assistant to Andy Rose at BR Ryall, and a national
team swimmer at Ryall and PPD, in addition to team captain at WIU.
