» Mike Penrose - Coach (ACE-Senior)  email

Coach Penrose is in his 13th year of coaching at LN. He has been named Marion County Boys Coach of the Year in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2006 and the Marion County Girls Coach of the Year in 2006. He has also been named the Carmel Sectional Boys Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2003, and the Carmel Sectional Girls Coach of the Year in 2007. From 2002 – 2004 he led the boy’s team to a spot in the NISCA National Top 25 dual meet rankings. LN has produced 10 All-Americans and 11 Academic All-Americans in Penrose’s seven years as head coach. Several LN alumni have participated on collegiate swimming and diving teams. Mike swam for the New Castle Trojans in high school, setting several club and school records. He was also a member of a school record setting relay team while swimming for Butler University, winning four varsity letters swimming for the Bulldogs. He teaches Pre-Calculus and Algebra II at LN. He and his wife Joy have two children; Emma (8) and Jacob (6). In his spare time, Mike enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, camping, going to LN athletic events, and cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. Coach Penrose is a member of several professional organizations including NISCA, ASCA, MCGCA, ICGSA, IHSSCA and is certified by United States Swimming. Coach Penrose is the current President of the Indiana High School Swimming Coaches Association and also serves as Vice-President of the Indiana High School Swimming & Diving Hall of Fame Committee. Coach Penrose has been associated with LST since 1995, coaching various age-groups along the way. From coaching the A group to the senior team, running clinics, serving as club President to being the Lawrence Township liaison for the club.

Meg G Osborne - Head Age Group Coach (Tornadoes)  email

Coach Meg received a Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Indiana University in 1982 with an aquatics minor and a coaching emphasis. She attended Columbia City Joint HIgh School (1978) and Culver Military Academy Summer School (1977). 

Coach Meg grew up swimming for Columbia City Swim Team (summer league), Warsaw YMCA (8-under), and Club Olympia (now Fort Wayne Aquatics) where she was a AAU Jr Olympic State Finalist from 1973 through 1978.  She swam for Indiana University from 1978 - 1981 where she was a Big Ten Finalist. 

During the day, Meg is President of MEG & Associates, an event planning, promotions and fund-raising company.  For example, Chick-fil-A at the Crossing is one of her clients.

Her husband, Brad is a Realtor with CENTURY 21 Realty Group.  They have Rob (23 years old - a football player and swimmer for Heritage Christian, Katie (22 years old - 14 time All American and National swimmer for North Central and WTSC) and Scott (15 year old swimmer for LST)

» Susan Anderson - Coach (Storm)  email

Susan is an ASCA Level 2 coach and has been coaching for LST since April of 2003, first with the Lightening group, then moving into the Storm group coaching slot. Susan was a competitive high school and college swimmer, and has taught and coached swimming since high school. With high expectations for the Storm group, Susan enjoys watching all the swimmers work hard to expand their potential in the sport and is looking forward to a phenomenal season. Susan is married to Brent (a non-swimmer) and has three daughter, Kristen, 17 (varsity high school), Meghan, 15 (varsity high school) and Taryn, 12 (Hurricane). LET’S GO BEARCATS!

» Chrissy Wheat - Coach (Thunder-Lightning)  email

Chrissy is a level 2 ASCA certified coach and  is a graduate of Lawrence Central High School , where she still holds the 100 butterfly record! Chrissy’s swimming career continued at  Indiana University where she is a four year varsity letter winner as well as a three year Academic All Big Ten award winner. Chrissy has learned and competed in swimming since the age of 7, and continues today as a member of the Indy Swim Fit masters swimming team. In her experiences as a swimmer, she has competed on both the state and national levels and is currently gaining valuable experience by returning to her high school team to help coach the Bears at LC. Chrissy is currently focusing her attention for the Bearcats to the A group of beginning and developing swimmers where she enjoys sharing with each swimmer the experience of swimming, technique and advancement within the sport.  Chrissy is married to Chris Wheat and together they have two children Anna (6) and Cameron (2).

» Meghan Miles - Assistant Coach (Thunder-Lightning)  email
My name is Meghan Miles and I recently graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Tourism Management. I am teacher at Primrose of West Fishers and work part-time for Radio Disney. As for my swimming background, I swam for Carmel Swim Club and Southeastern Swim Club for eight years. Then, I swam for Hamilton Southeastern High School on the varsity team for two years. I have also coached for Windermere, Legends at Geist, and the Fishers YMCA.  I am very excited to be coaching for the Lawrence Swim Team! I love teaching children how to improve their stroke development and learning to have a passion for swimming just as I was taught as a young swimmer!   My love and passion for swimming is in my blood since my father was a state champion and record holder while at North Central High School; my sister Katie swam at Hamilton Southeastern High School and Miami of Ohio; and my sister Jennifer is currently a swimmer at North Central High School. My Aunt Jennifer was a member of the 1976 Olympic swim team in Montreal, Canada, and was an American record holder two events.

Kaitlyn is a 2006 graduate of Lawrence North High School. She began swimming at the age of four at Hillcrest Country Club and started swimming club at LST when she was seven for Mike Penrose. As an age group swimmer Kaitlyn was a five time medalist at State and a Zone qualifier. At LN she received All-American consideration as a four-year letter winner under head coach Mike Penrose, set three school records, is ranked in seven events in the top 10 record board in LN , named team MVP as a freshman and senior, earned Freshman Desire award, Hardest Worker award and Mental Attitude award and was a four time State qualifier. She was also a Lawrence Township Athlete of Character in 2005-2006. Kaitlyn is currently a junior at Butler University majoring in Public and Corporate Communications, she also swam for Butler her freshman year.

This is her first year as a coach for LST and is excited to be back home again in the township where she grew up. Go Bearcats!

» Martha Koen - Swim America Site Supervisor - Coach  email

Born on the Welsh Border,in Britain.
Swam competitively to a national level, and graduated from Sussex University in FineArt.
I have been in education most of my working life, as a teacher, and am a practising artist and writer.
'Have coached swim team,taught many lessons and ran a successful Swim America program. I also swim with a masters team.


I am married with 6 children,all of whom are grown.
