Mike Davidson joined the Solon
Stars as Head Coach in April 2002. He came to us from Penn
State University where he was an Assistant Coach to both the
Men’s and Women’s teams since 1998. Davidson
trained the Lions to their first Big Ten title (Men’s in 1999
and Women’s in 2002) and helped a school record 12 Nittany
Lions to the NCAA Championships. He was a key element in Penn State
breaking 15 school records at the Big Ten Championships and three
more at the NCAA Championships. Davidson helped lead Penn
State to another strong finish at Big Ten’s as well as a
school best 19th place finish at the 2000 NCAA Championships.
Davidson brings an extensive list of collegiate, USS Swimming and
high school coaching experience to the Solon Stars Swim Club.
He was previously the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Coach
at Cleveland State from 1995-98. He was the Head Coach of the
Cleveland Aquatic Team from 1995-98 and the Senior Assistant of the
Worthington Swim Club in Ohio from 1993-95. Davidson also
served as the Assistant Coach for Thomas Worthington and
Worthington-Kilbourne High Schools from 1993-95. He has
coached seven Senior National and 14 Junior National qualifiers in
these roles. A native of North Olmsted, Ohio, Davidson also
received his bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State where he
was a member of the Men’s swim team. Mike is also the
head coach for the Solon High School Swim Team.
Kevin Harrod
Head Age Group Coach

Kevin joined the Stars in 2007
from the Lakewood Recreation Swim Team where he had been the head
coach since 2001. He has had a great track record at
developing swimmers from this club and sees the ability to continue
that success with the Stars. Among his other roles, Kevin has been
an assistant coach at Cleveland State and is Level 3 ASCA
certified. In addition to some club administrative duties, Kevin
assists with the coaching of the Stars Senior/Senior Elite groups
as well as the Age Group Elite swimmers.
Jim Sordi
Assistant Coach Age Group

Coach Jim Sordi founded the Solon
Stars in 1995 and has served as an Age Group Coach for the
Stars since that time. His experience includes working with
Solon Stars Swim Club, Team Viking and the Lake Erie Silver
Dolphins. He was the first ever Head Coach for Kenston High School
and also served as Assistant Coach for Solon High School.
Coach Sordi was selected to be a Lake Erie Swimming Zone Team
Age Group Assistant Coach in 1999, 2003 & 2008. He coached the
Ohio Quads team in 2000. Coach Sordi is a Solon High School &
Solon Swimming Alumni. He is currently the Aquatics Director for
the City of Solon and was the Head Coach for the Solon Summer
Recreation Swim Team for 12 years. He currently resides in Solon
with his wife Amy and their 2 children Taylor and Marissa.
Dave Evans
Assistant Coach

Dave Evans, ASCA Level 2, joins
the Stars after being an age group coach with the Warren YMCA, then
moving to the Cleveland area and becoming the Age Group coach for
USC he also was awarded the LESI Age Group Coach of the Year.
Dave will coach Age Group Elite and also help sub with other groups
as needed.
Doug Champior

Doug Champior comes back to the
competitive swimming arena after a long break after swimming in
college at CSU. Doug brings a background of working with young
swimmers from developmental range up to middle school age kids in
the Massillon, Ohio area.
