Becky
started coaching swimming right after she graduated from Cathedral
High School in Omaha in 1985. Her first coaching job was as
an age group swim coach for the US Navy in South Carolina.
She coached there for 2 years. She then moved back to Omaha
to attend Message Therapy School. Becky graduated as a
Message Therapist in 1991. Becky then started to assist
in coaching the Westgate Summer Rec Swim Club in 1994. When
she started, Westgate was in the D League, with a squad of 17
swimmers. In her final season at Westgate, in 2006, she
was co-Head Coach of a team of 90 swimmers in the B League.
Becky was awarded parent volunteer of the year award at Westgate
for her outstanding abilities in motivating and encouraging
children. In the 2009 long course season Coach Becky was a
finalist for the Midwestern Age Group Coach of the Year
Award. Becky brings to GOAL a great understanding of the most
effective techniques for the sport of swimming. She works
with the dolphin group primarily, but has worked quite a bit with
every group in GOAL. Coach Becky lives in Waterloo where she is
married to Jim Yungbluth and has 2 daughters, Carey and Cass

Brandon J Christiansen

In the summer of 1997, B.J. began his swimming career with MOST,
where he holds two team records. During his years at Burke high
school he qualified for state all four years and competed in every
event, qualifying for state in each of the eight individual high
school events his junior and senior year. He was on Burke’s Metro
Champion 200 free relay in 2006 and took home 7 career Nebraska
State medals. After
high school he went on to swim one year at the University of
Wyoming.
Currently B.J. is still training and competing for GOAL in the
senior group. In the
summer of 2008 he was a member of GOAL’s 400 medley relay
that competed at the Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational at the Qwest
Center. He has 4 team records for GOAL.
B.J. started his coaching career with Burke High school for the
2007-2008 season as an assistant coach for Rich Hood. In March 2008 he began coaching
for GOAL with the Shark Group. In the past year since he has
started, he has produced multiple Division 1 and Central Zones
qualifiers, as well as a Midwest All-Star champion. B.J. has
a great feel for teaching the techniques of swimming and has a lot
of fun every day at practice working with the kids.
B.J. is currently attending the University of Nebraska at Omaha
seeking a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science

Thomas R Beck

Tom Beck has been involved in swimming in Nebraska for over 36
years. Tom started swimming for his neighborhood (Keystone)
summer rec team at the age of 6, taught and coached by his sister
Barb (now Barb Graeve). Tom started swimming year-round for
the Metro Omaha Swim Team (MOST) under Joe Stocker, and later for
the Omaha Westside Swim Club (OWSC) under coaches Cal Benz, Pat
DiBaise, Bob Nedley, Peter Young, and Doug Krecklow. Tom
attended Creighton Prep High School where he was a relay state
champion, a state runner-up in the 100 butterfly, and a relay and
individual (100 butterfly) high school All-American. Tom
attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, graduating in 1989
with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. During
his senior year at UNL, he was a member of Nebraska’s Big
Eight championship swimming team.
Tom began coaching in 1986 as a summer rec coach at Keystone Pool,
leading Keystone for the next 3 years and climbing to the top 3 in
Omaha’s A Division. He began coaching USA with MOST in
1988 immediately after finishing his year with the Nebraska swim
team. Tom coached for 7 years with MOST, the majority of time
in the role of head age group/assistant senior coach. At
MOST, Tom helped head coach Mike Hayhurst to develop the team into
a perennial age group state champion, winning the state short
course age group meet from 1990 through 1996, as well as the state
long course meet in 1990 and 1991. Tom coached several
swimmers at MOST to National Top 16 rankings, as well as LSC and
Zone championships. Tom was named the Midwestern LSC Age
Group Coach of the Year in 1990.
Tom began coaching the high school team at his alma mater Creighton
Prep in the fall of 1990. His Creighton Prep teams were state
runner-ups in 1993 and won the State Championship Meet from 1996 to
2000. During this time Coach Beck coached swimmers to 12
individual and 8 relay state titles. He was named Nebraska
Boys High School Coach of the Year 4 out of the 5 years from 1996
to 2000. Tom left Prep before the 2001 season and assisted
Millard West head coach Tracy Stauffer for that season. The
West girls finished runner-ups at State. Tom returned to once
again coach the Creighton Prep team to State Championships in the
2002, 2007, 2008 and 2009 seasons, being named Coach of the Year
again in 2007 and 2009.
Coach Beck’s most recent USA coaching stint was at the
Millard Aquatic Club (MAC) in Omaha. Tom was the head age
group/assistant senior coach from 1995 until 1998, when he became
head coach, a position he held until the spring of 2001.
While at MAC the club doubled in size, growing from 130 to 260
swimmers. Tom coached 3 swimmers to Senior National
standards, 2 swimmers to Olympic Trials standards, and 1 swimmer to
a Junior National championship. Coach Beck was one of three
finalists for the Midwestern LSC Senior Coach of the Year in 2001,
and was named the Midwestern Senior Coach of the Year in
2009.
While at GOAL, the team has risen steadily up the team rankings at
the Midwestern Swimming Division 1 Championship Meets. Since
the club started in October of 2001, GOAL has achieved the
following D1 Meet finishes: sc2002 - 10th, lc2002 - 8th,
sc2005 - 7th, lc2005 - 9th, sc2006 - 6th, lc2006 - 8th, sc2007 -
4th, lc2007 - 5th, sc2008 - 3rd, lc2008 - 2nd, sc2009 (14 & Under only) - 5th, lc2009
(all ages) - CHAMPIONS!!

Alexandra J Lewis

Alex started swimming at the age of 4 for
Westgate Recreational Swim Team. She started club swimming at
MOST at the age of 7 for two years. She then club jumped for
the next two years until she found her perfect match for
her at GOAL. Alex was the first Green Group swimmer at
GOAL and was the 14th member of GOAL. She is the first
swimmer at GOAL to pass through all levels at GOAL. She
swam High School for Marian and was a part of a state championship
and 3 runner up championships. Alex has taught swim lesson
for 5 years at Barb Graeve Swim School and has coached at GOAL
for 4 years now spending most of her time with the penguin
group. Alex brings to GOAL a great love for the sport and for
children in general, as well as an upbeat, positive
personality. Alex is attending Creighton University
Nursing program.
