Trever Gray
Head Swim Coach, Director of Operations
Trever Gray began his position as Head Coach for the Four Corners Aquatic Team in April of 2008. He hopes to transform FCAT from a regional competitor to a national one.
Prior to coaching at FCAT, he was the co-Head
Coach at the Sandpoint West Athletic Club in Sandpoint, ID from
2004-2008. Trever helped to bring A and B level swimmers to Age
Group and Senior Sectional levels. He also coached the Masters
program there from 2002-2008.
His coaching career started in Washington State as the Garfield
High School’s men’s and women’s head coach. He
and his wife Brandyn brought the girls team from 14th at State to
10th in one season. In their only season coaching the boys,
Garfield won the State Title where Trever received the Washington
State coach of the year.
He then started to coach the age group program at Salmon Bay
Aquatics in Seattle, WA until he moved to Sandpoint in 2002.
Trever’s own swimming career will prove invaluable in his
coaching. Swimming under the tutelage of current United Arab
Emirates Olympic Coach Jay Benner, Trever went from taking 3 years
off from swimming prior to 1998, to being ranked 4th in the nation
and 16th in the world in the 200-meter backstroke in 2000.
More important than his accomplishments is his vision for
FCAT’s future:
A program where success breeds more success, showing our children
how to become successful in life. Hiring and retaining the best
coaches for the program thereby ensuring success at all levels and
groups of the FCAT program. Cooperation with the board, pool
managers, parks department, business leaders and coaches to create
a team that makes the community feel FCAT is as much theirs as
ours. I’m not looking for exceptional kids but creating an
exceptional environment for athletes to flourish!
