
Chris Wolford

Chris
Wolford comes to the Marlins from Toledo, Ohio. In
Toledo, Chris coached Greater Toledo Aquatic Club and St. Francis
High School. While with Greater Toledo Aquatic Club, he
coached nine Junior National Champions, his swimmers set six Junior
National meet records and won the 2000 women’s title at
Juniors. The Greater Toledo Aquatic Club also grew from 75
members to 170 members during his tenure.
As the coach of St. Francis de Sales High School, Chris guided the
team to a State Title in 1998 and runner-up in 1997 and 1999.
While there, Chris’s swimmers set 9 of 11 varsity records,
won 5 individual National tiles, set 4 State Records, one National
record, and earned over 50 All-American Awards. St. Francis
also finished with Top 5 national rankings in three of his four
years coaching.
Prior to coaching in Toledo, Chris was the Assistant Men’s
Coach for Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, from 1994-1996.
While at Miami, Chris worked with a team who had multiple
Mid-American Conference Champions, an NCAA National Championship
qualifier and maintained high academic standards. The 1996
team earned 6 of 16 All Academic Honors in the Mid-American
Conference.
Chris is a 1991 graduate of Miami University with a degree in
Accounting, where he was a four year member of their varsity
swimming team and team captain during the 1990-91 season.
Prior to his coaching career, Chris was the Accounting Manager for
Borror Construction, a home builder in Columbus, Ohio.

Mike Wenert
Marlins Head Senior Coach, ASCA 4

Mike has proven himself to be one of the
country’s best age-group coaches. Mike joined the
Marlins in 1999. As Head Age Group Coach, he lead the Marlins
to seven Junior National Titles. In addition, Mike
has developed numerous Top 16 swimmers, many becoming top college
prospects and Olympic Trial Qualifiers.
Mike is a Cincinnati native who grew up in Western Hills. He
started swimming at Gamble Nippert YMCA when he was five years
old. He continued his swimming career at Elder High School
and Wright State University where he received a degree in
History.
Mike started his coaching career at Washington Township Recreation
Center in 1993. As head age group coach, he helped guide the
WTRC Sharks to four 2nd place finishes at the Ohio Age
Group State Championships. Mike has also served as the Head
Coach for Princeton Aquatic Club and Princeton High
School.
Mike lives in Cincinnati with his wife, Lesley and daughter,
Olivia.

Jeremy M Wilken
Marlins Head Age Group Coach, ASCA 4

Jeremy comes to the Marlins from Dayton, Ohio. Jeremy has
spent the last 14 years with the WTRC Sharks (10 as head age group
coach). While with the Sharks he was named 2002-2003 Coach of
the Year. During his time there he coached swimmers from
novice to U.S. Open Champions. Jeremy was in charge of the
age group program that also produced many state champions, top
sixteen qualifiers, national qualifiers, as well as a national age
group record. While head age group coach the Sharks were
consistently among the top five age group teams in the state.
Jeremy grew up in the Dayton area graduating from West
Carrollton High School and swimming for KEY Swimming. Jeremy
still resides in Dayton and also owns and operates a summer pool
management company there.

Dan Guibord
Central Marlins Bronze Group Coach

Dan
Guibord grew up and
has lived in Cincinnati his entire life. He swam with the
Marlins for 11 years starting his career as an eleven year old in
1993. He swam for St. Xavier High School and was captain of
the team his senior year. After graduating from St. X, he went on
to swim for Miami University. He swam for three years at Miami
and was a student-assistant coach his fourth year. Dan
graduated from Miami Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree
in Exercise Science. Dan is now attending PT School at
UC.
Dan started
coaching the summer after his senior year in high school as an
assistant to the Gold and Silver groups. This summer was his
fourth summer as a Marlin’s coach. He originally
returned to the Marlins as an assistant, but was named the Head Age
Group Coach during the summer of 2005. Dan gave up the head
age group job for the Bronze group and PT
school.

Jerri Freimuth
Central Varsity Coach/Masters, ASCA 3

Jerri comes to us from the Northern Kentucky Clippers after many
successful years of coaching many levels of the program. She
grew up in Edgewood, Kentucky and swam for Brookwood Swim Club and
Scott High School.
Jerri had a very successful coaching and swimming career in
Washington State. She began swimming again in 1994 with
United States Masters Swimming. As a masters swimmer she was
nationally ranked in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, winning the 200
breast at Nationals in 1998. She also swam the great
Chesapeake Bay for the March of Dimes in 1999 (placing 3rd in her
age group) and 2007 (winning her age group). From 1998-2000
Jerri was the assistant high school coach in Lebanon PA at Cedar
Crest High School and coached the Falcon Swim Club also in Lebanon
PA. While in PA Jerri also worked at the Lebanon Valley
Family YMCA teaching swim lessons and water aerobics from
1998-2000.
Jerri and her husband Joe moved back to Northern Kentucky after
Joe retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service.

Dan Carl
Central Marlins Senior Coach

Dr. Dan
comes to the Marlins as a coach and science consultant for the Blue
Marlins Group. Dan is also the Head Coach of Sycamore High
School. Before coming to the Cincinnati Area Dan spent 9
years as the Head Coach of Valparaiso University where he was also
a professor of sports physiology. No stranger to coaching in
Ohio, Dr. Dan served time as an assistant coach at The Ohio State
University and Miami University. Dan lives in Symmes
Township with his wife Sarah, daughter Elizabeth, sons Elliott and
Bishop.

Lauren A Prangley
Central Marlins Bronze Coach

Lauren grew up in Buffalo, New York. She began swimming at
the age of five for the Amherst Swim Club. She attended Miami
of Ohio where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary
Education. Lauren swam at Miami for 4 years, holding school
records in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle events. She was
also the team captain her junior and senior years.
After college, Lauren began coaching for the Marlins while
teaching in the Wyoming City Schools. She coached the
Supersquad group from 1993 - 1995, and also the Bronze group the
summer of 1995.
Lauren lives in Wyoming with her husband, Bob, their sons
Jonathan and Sam, and their daughter Rebecca. Jonathan and
Rebecca are proud Marlin swimmers.

Chad Winkle
North Marlins Head Coach, ASCA Level 2

Chad Winkle
graduated from Princeton High School in 2003 and from the
University of Cincinnati with a major in Political Science in
2007. Chad has coached for the Sharonville Sharks summer team
for the past five summers and is currently the Head Coach for Roger
Bacon High School. He is also in his third year coaching at
Marlins North.
In 2007, Chad was promoted to Head Age Group coach at Marlins
North. Additionally, he took on the new responsibility as
Site Communications Coordinator.
At the beginning of the 2008 Long Course season, Chad was named the
Head Coach of Marlins North. In addition to running the North
satellite, he will also be the Head Coach for the Evendale Eagles
Summer Club.

Kyle Bogenschutz
West Marlins Age-Group Asst. Coach
Email
Kyle entered his third year with the Marlins as a coach.
He has directed the age-group program at Taylor High School in an
effective and positive way. Swimmers not only learn to swim
fast, but learn the fun provided by swimming.
Kyle is a former Marlins swimmer and the Head Coach of Phillips
Swim Club.

Mimi Strenk
West Marlins Silver Asst. Coach

Mimi Strenk is starting her third year at Marlins
West. This year, she will be coaching the Gold
group. Prior to coaching for the Marlins, she coached at OHST
for 4 years. In the past, she coached at McAuley High School
for 4 years and was GGCL coach of the year for 2 years. She
also coached at Oak Hills Swim and Racquet Club. Mimi swam for
Gamble Nippert YMCA and Mother of Mercy High School. She swam
at St. Louis University on an athletic scholarship.

Tammi E Karn

Tammi is currntly the Outreach Chairman for Ohio Swimming.
This is a position that was meant for her, as she has a great
repertoire with kids and believes that children, no matter what
their environment, can become extremely productive citizens when
someone shows them trust and nuturing. Tammi loves the sport
of swimming and comes to us with many years of coaching
experience. Tammi's family includes a husband, Matt Morris, a
daughter, Cecilia and three dogs.
Tammi started coaching at the age of 18 during the summers after
having been involved in age group and high school swimming.
She started coaching year round as a 19 year old during that
following winter season. Her coaching resume includes time
spent with Oak Hills Swim Team, The Boys and Girls Club of Greater
Cincinnnati and with the Cincinnati Recreation Commission.
She has coached in the summers for Deer Run Country Club and
Woodhaven Swim Club, as well as with Taylor High School, Holmes
High School and Holy Cross High School on the high school
level. While coaching at the Boys and Girls Club of
Cincinnati, Tammi’s club was one of a very few in the United
States that competed with at least 90% of the team being outreach
swimmers.
Tammi has expressed her excitement over joining the club.
She has a tremendous on-deck presence and is someone that girls and
guys alike will find easy to warm up to and be able to feel totally
comfortable and at ease with.

Kyle Davis
Interim South Head Coach

Kyle currently resides in Villa
Hills, Kentucky, and has lived in the Cincinnati area his entire
life. He began swimming year-round at the age of 6 for the Northern
Kentucky Clippers. Since then, he has swum for the Anderson
Barracudas, River’s Edge Swim Team, and the Marlins. He
graduated in 2005 from Dixie Heights High School. Last May, he
graduated cum laude from Western Illinois University with a
Bachelor of Business degree majoring in accounting.
At Western
Illinois University, he swam for four years and was named team
captain his senior year. He was a top-16 and top-8 finalist in the
Mid-Continent Conference, which is now named The Summit League. He
was nominated and served four years for the Student Athletic
Advisory Committee (SAAC), serving as president his senior year. He
also represented the athletic department by having the athletic
seat on the Student Government Association. He has received
various academic awards and was named to the ESPN the Magazine
Academic All-District team in 2007.
In between
years at college, he coached at Five Seasons Sports Club for three
years. In his last year, they won the Northern Kentucky Swim League
Regular Season Championship. This was a great experience that
allowed him to learn a lot about swimming and coaching. He gladly
joins the Marlins eager to apply his knowledge, and is very excited
about this opportunity.

Judy Dusing
Office/Team Manager
Email
Judy is in her
18th year with the Marlins. She began as a volunteer while
her sons participated on the team. She then was employed as
the team office manager before adding the title of Aquatic Director
when Keating Natatorium was renovated.
Judy is a Certified Pool Operator
by the National Swimming Pool Foundation. Her duties as
Aquatic Director are far reaching. She is in charge of all aspects
of our facility’s operation. She schedules all
practices and special events, maintains water quality and facility
cleanliness, and insures compliance with all state and local
regulations.
As our team-office manager, Judy
maintains the physical office, all personnel records, and maintain
all administrative records of a USA competitive swimming
team. She acts as the liaison between St. Xavier High School,
Ohio Swimming, USA Swimming, and the Cincinnati Marlins. Mrs.
Dusing is a Level 1 USA Certified Swim Official and also works as
one of the Southwest Commission’s Officials Co-Chairperson
for Ohio Swimming, Inc. Judy is in charge of all USA Swimming
officials in Southwestern Ohio and Northern Kentucky, the largest
commission in the Ohio LSC.
