Coach Kara Viorel continues her fourth season of coaching.
She is going on her third year as the Aquatics Director and is
excited about continuing her role at the YMCA. Kara has 14 years
competitive swimming experience. In May 2000, she graduated
from Lake Forest College where she was a 16-time conference
champion in Division III Women’s Varsity Swimming, 4-time
Division III National Qualifier, 2 year team captain, and school
record holder. She was an assistant coach in Deerfield, IL for 5
years and has been a certified coach in USA Swimming for 13
years. She is a member of America’s Swim Coaches
Association. During her coaching career, she has instructed several
Jr. National quailfiers a US Open Qualifier, YMCA IL/MO Area
Champions, and multiple YMCA National qualifiers. Kara
has experience as an aquatics coordinator and is a certified
personal trainer. She is also the Head Men’s and
Women’s Swimming Coach for Hannibal-LaGrange College.
Hannibal is where Kara’s swimming career initiated and she
enjoys helping the sport of swimming grow in her hometown.
Rebecca Campbell

Assistant Coach Rebecca Campbell begins her second season with
the Hurricanes. She has been the head coach for Bronze 1 and Bronze
2 groups over the past 2 seasons. Like Kristen and Kara, Rebecca
grew up swimming for the Hannibal Hurricanes. During her swimming
career for the YMCA, she was a national qualifier. She also plans
on swimming for Hannibal La-Grange College’s new team in the
fall of 2008. Rebecca’s great personality and discipline is
exactly what the Hurricanes need for the upcoming season!

Jessica
Bush
returns for her second seasaon with
the Hannibal Hurricanes. Jessica also grew up swimming
for the Hannibal Hurricanes and Hannibal Pirates. She is also
currently a member of the HLG Swimming Team. She has spent
many years teaching swim lessons through the Hannibal YMCA working
with young swimmers getting prepared to join the swim team.
She is a great fit to work with the Blue and Bronze 1 groups.
The Hurricanes are very lucky to have a great coach such as
Jessica.
Kris Kennedy

Assistant Coach Kris Kennedy starts her first season working
with the younger groups. She is a parent on the HHST swim
team who has become a stroke official and now shares her knowledge
by working with the kids in practice on their stroke
technique.
