Coach Jim
Sharp has been the Head Coach for the Sharks since
2008. We are glad to have him back! He is currently
the head swimming coach at Klein Forest High School, where he also
teaches history. He also coaches for our local year-round
swim team, PACK, after coaching with HEAT, Klein Aquatics, and
New Wave Aquatics.
Coach Jim grew up
overseas in Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, where he competed in
swimming for the local American schools. After returning to
the United States, he competed on swimming and water polo teams in
Anaheim, California. Once graduating from high school, he
attended Texas A&M University and started his coaching career
in 1993 with the Westador Waves swim team. Since that time,
he has coached Terra Nova, Terra Nova West, Spring Creek Oaks, and
now Cypresswood summer league swim teams.

lives in the Tomball area.

Ashley Thomas

We are so excited to have
Coach Ashley back for her second year! Having lived in
Cypresswood her entire life, she previously swam 7 years
for the Sharks and 4 years for the Klein Collins High School
swim team. She is currently attending Lone Star Montgomery
College.
Michelle von Sternberg

We
are very excited to have Michelle back as a coach! She has
been an Assistant Coach for Cypresswood Sharks for 3 years (2005,
2006, 2007).
She has lots of experience as a
swimmer. She swam for Westador Waves ages 5 – 14; (Coach
Jim Sharp was her first swim coach!) She also swam for
Westfield High School and Klein Collins High School.
Michelle is currently a Marine Biology major at Eckerd
College, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Spent the past semester
studying abroad in Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles, where she enjoyed
studying coral reef ecology and scuba diving, and became certified
as an Emergency First Responder and Rescue Diver.
Michelle loves the water and enjoys working with children. She
is excited to be returning to coaching Cypresswood Sharks and is
looking forward to a winning season!
Allison Lape

We are pleased to have Ali Lape
with us this year. She is 21 years of age and has lived in
Texas for seven years. She graduated from Klein Collins High
School in 2006 and swam on the varsity team all four years. Ali
still holds two school records there. She attended
the University of Wyoming with a major in Kinesiology her first two
years of college. She also swam for UW, which is an NCAA
Division I swim team. This past year Ali
transferred to the University of Texas of the Permian Basin
where she is still majoring in Kinesiology with a minor
in Biology. She also swims for UTPB and next
year will be her last year of collegiate swimming!
