Erica Swanson
Head Coach
Email
Erica is a rising
sophomore at Virginia Tech. She started swimming summer league in
1995 for the Kingstream Kahunas in Herndon and has been swimming
every summer since on a few different teams around Ashburn. She
started swimming competitively for AVST when she was 8 and switched
to SNOW swimming after an injury. SNOW has been a huge part of her
life for the last 4 years and she still drops into practice every
now and then. Her shoulder injury kept her from swimming varsity at
Tech but she is still a swimmer through and through. Five years ago
she started coaching for the Belmont Sharks. She has very strong
relationships with the families on that team but it was time for a
fresh start. She has also worked for Potomac Swim School for the
last 2 years and given private lessons on her own time. She spent
last semester coaching for Special Olympics. She thought this was a
good opportunity to stay in the water coaching but she ended up
learning a lot about coaching athletes with disabilities and
forming great bonds with the athletes she worked with. Though she
is not in the water as much as she used to be, her love for this
sport is endless and she hopes to inspire some of the same in your
children!
