Head Coach

Welcome 2009 Taz swimmers! My name is
Michael Smith, the new Head Coach. I am excited to be part of
the El Dorado Hills Tasmanian Devils 2009 swim team.
I started swimming at an early age and enjoyed
many summers playing in the pool. I competed in the Suburban
Swim League for the Sierra Sharks. Afterward, I swam for
Ponderosa High School, Arden Hills and American River
College. I am currently competing on the Sacramento State
triathlon team.
My coaching
experience starts with teaching swimming lessons from the ages of
one to 70 years of age. I’ve coached a Masters Swim team
and was the head coach for the Highlander Dolphins. I enjoy
teaching swimming and understand that different approaches are
required for different age groups. I am looking forward to
meeting each of you, helping you achieve your goals, and leading
the Taz to a successful, enjoyable season!

My name is Julie
Dover and this is my 14th season with the El Dorado
Hills Swim Team, and my 6th year coaching. I began
swimming for TAZ when I was 8, and began coaching when I was
15. I attended high school at Oak Ridge, and swam on the
varsity swim team for all four years, and also played competitive
volleyball until I was 16. I am currently entering my senior
year at Arizona State University where I am completing my
bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. It was my
experience with coaching swim team that helped me to decided to
change my course of study from marketing to education during my
sophomore year at Arizona State. After I graduate I will begin
teaching (possibly 5th grade), but that all depends on
if and where I get a job! I cannot believe that I am already
going to be a senior and that have only one more year of college,
but I am looking forward to enjoying one last summer!!
