Cathy Manthey - Head Coach and Director

Coach Cathy Manthey is the Director of the Splash program.  She has coached for over 30 years in the Bay Area and is widely recognized for her attention to detail when it comes to the technical aspects of swimming and race strategies.  Coach Cathy’s program philosophy includes teaching life skills and character lessons by working toward swimming excellence.  The SPLASH mission statement, "We Place Kids First," reflects her commitment to making the team experience both educational and challenging as well as providing a good measure of fun.  Coach Manthey holds a Level 5 certificate, the highest level attainable from the American Swim Coaches Association, of which she is a lifetime member.  You can contact Coach Cathy at cmathey@vcs.net.

Jen O'Connell - Age Group Coach

Coach Jennifer O’Connell has made service in athletics and outdoor life a large part of her adult life.  She is a fully qualified Level One USA swim coach and is a member of the RED Cross National Disaster Relief team.  A childhood love of swimming took her from competitive swimming at age four into Water Polo and High School swimming.  Her devotion to Live Oak High School , a well know polo institution, prepared her well for a continued presence in the water bourn sports community.  Her love of coaching young children began with a focus in teaching infants with special needs and their parent’s water safety instruction and swimming skills.  Having worked with Cabana swim leagues and at the Silver creek Country club she is well known to the local swimming community and is a valued member of the Valley Splash swimming club.

Les Greenwood - Age Group Coach

Ryan Hussey - Age Group Coach

Coach Ryan learned how to swim when he was 2 yrs old at Los Paseos Aquatics Club. He started swimming on their cabana team at age 5 “aged out” when he was18. He too began his year round swimming career with Coach Cathy 11 years ago and is currently competing with the Splash Masters Team. Coach Ryan played water polo for Archbishop Mitty High School for two years and swam all four years. He is currently enrolled at San Jose State and majoring in Business Marketing.
