
Danica R Burge

Head Coach Danica Burge is a
native to San José, born and raised in East San
José. She has also been a coach of several
high schools in San José over the past 10 years. She has
taken many of those teams to league championships, CCS
Championships, trained an athlete to a two years CCS title, and had
a relay place in the top five at CCS for the past 4 years in a
row.
Coach Danica grew up
as a swimmer for WCA, and swam for West for over 10 years.
She is deeply routed in the succes of this team. She was a
member of WCA’s Senior Gold group and swam for Head Coach
Paul Weiss. She has been able to experience the success that
comes with being part of a competitive USS club team, traveling to
elite meets, swimming in Nationals, and later being awarded a
swimming scholarship to a Division I University. She is a
graduate of San José State University with a Bachelors of
Arts in Kinesiology and Masters in Education with an emphasis in
Administration and Counseling.

Verónica A Hernández
AG Slv, Sr Brz, Sr Slv & Masters Coach

After swimming for West Coast Aquatics through her high school
career (’94-’98), Verónica Hernández
returned to West as a coach in March of 2004. Coach Vern has
worked with kids in Lessons, Pre-Competitive, Super Swimmers, Age
Group Bronze, Age Group Silver, and now with Senior Bronze and
Senior Silver Groups. She is also the coach of the adult
Masters team at West.
Coach Verónica has also been coaching for the East Side
Union High School District since 2000, with 8 year at James Lick
High, and is now the Head Coach at W. C. Overfelt High. She
is also the standing League Chairperson for the Blossum Valley
Athletic League, West Valley Division of high school swimming, and
has been serving in this volutary position since 2006.
Coach Verónica attended San José State University,
and double majored in Economics and Anthropology. While at
State she took classes in Psychology, Nutrition, Philosophy, Human
Behavior, and more. Verónica’s further education
in swimming has earned her Level 3 coaching status in the American
Swimming Coaches Association. She is also a current member of
the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association, United
States Masters Swimming, and the World Swimming Coaches Association

Kristin J Fific
Lessons Director, AG Bronze & S.S. Coach

Coach Kristin Fific grew up in
Santa Maria, CA. She swam competitively for the Santa Maria Swim
Club from age 8 until she graduated high school. Her favorite
stroke is Butterfly, and her favorite events are the 200 IM and 200
Fly. After high school, Coach Kristin went on to attend and
graduate from the University of the Pacific where she played
intercollegiate water polo, worked as Business Manager for her
collegiate paper, The Pacifican, and was a member of Delta Delta
Delta’s. She moved to San José with her husband, and
has been enjoying teaching and coaching her favorite sport ever
since.

Samantha J Greenlee
Pre-Competitive Swimming Director

Samantha Greenlee has been with WEST since March 2007 and is the
Pre-competitive Swimming Director. She graduated from Santa Clara
University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in June
2009, and is now continuing on to get her Masters Degree and her
teaching credential. Originally from Kaneohe, Hawaii, she now
lives in Hollister with her two beautiful dogs and husband to be.
Her hobbies include cooking, swimming, hiking, dogs, and interior
design.
