Matt is the operations director and also leads Age Group 2 at the WSAC.  Matt has been coaching at the WSAC since 1997 and is starting his 17th season with Schroeder.

Anderson, 51, is in his 29th year of coaching and 20th at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.  Since 1985, Anderson has coached a Paralympian, an USA Olympic Team Triathlete, 17 Olympic Trials qualifiers, and two Olympic Trials finalists, a Junior World Championship Team Member, 16 Big Ten and Big Eight Conference Champions, four US Open Champions, 34 USA National Finalists, two USA National Championship Relays, five USA National Junior Team Members, two USA National Team Members, and two Junior National Champions to six Junior National records.  Anderson has been a member of the USA National Team and Junior Team Coaching Staff,  Head Coach of the Southern Zone Select Camp, named YMCA National Coach of the year in 1996 and again in 2007 and 2013, and led the Schroeder YMCA Swim Team to a National Combined Team Title in 1997 and the Women's Team Championship in 1999. 

Anderson began coaching high school and club swimming in his home state of Pennsylvania in the Philadelphia area.  In 1987, Dave moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to be a graduate assistant with the University of Nebraska's men's team and in 1989 he was named Men's Assistant Swimming Coach at the University of Minnesota.  The Gophers finished in the top 10 at the NCAA Championships four times and he earned his Masters degree in Education.  He has served as WI Swimming's Senior Chair and is the Central Zone's Coach Director and a member of USA Swimming's Board of Directors.

Dave coaches high school, college and post graduate ages.  A graduate of Hartwick College (NY), Dave enjoys a variety of athletic endeavors including cycling, multi sport racing, and ski marathons.  Anderson is married to Laura Petrie Anderson. They have a daughter, Grace, and the family lives in Shorewood, Wisconsin.

Bob has been a successful Wisconsin swim coach for many years.  His duties will be overseeing the development of the expansion of the Schroeder program to Milwaukee's south side and coaching Group 6 for the south side training center.
Bob's coaching career began with the Elmbrook Swim Club in the 1970's.  At Elmbrook, Bob developed the team into a Wisconsin Age Group and Senior State Championship program.  He developed and trained numerous Junior National, Senior National and Olympic Trial qualifiers including many world ranked swimmers.  This included a US Senior National individual champion and American Record Holder and two Top 8 finishes at the 1976 Olympic Trials.
In the late 1970's, Bob became the coach member on the committee that successfully secured the Schroeder Foundation donation to build the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.  He was then hired to become the first head coach for the Schroeder Swim Team.  While at Schroeder, he again developed many Junior, Senior and Olympic Trial qualifiers as well as YMCA National individual champions and Top 3 team finishes.  The highlight of Bob's stay at Schroeder was meeting and hiring Ann Kehoe as Schroeder's Head Novice/8 & Under Coach. Bob and Ann married in 1979 and have been coaching together since.  Coming full circle, Ann will be joining Bob in the development of the south side training center and will again be working with the Schroeder novice and 9 & Under swimmers.
In 1981, Bob was named a USA National Team Coach and worked directly with US Olympians and World Record Holders in a USA vs USSR competition held in Kiev, USSR.
After Schroeder, Bob (and Ann) moved on to establish the Lake Country Swim Team in 1982.  The team won its first Wisconsin State Championship in 1986 and then went on to win Wisconsin State Championship titles every year through 2002.  The team also had numerous Top 3 finishes at the Speedo Championships and the USA Junior National Championships.  During this period, Lake Country produced a number of USA Junior National, Senior National and Olympic Trials qualifiers and finalists as well as USA National Team members.
Bob's next WI coaching position was with the Southwest Aquatic Team.  He developed the team into a major force in Wisconsin and US Swimming.  The program produced numerous Wisconsin State Champions and record holders, as well as US Junior National, US Senior National, Olympic Trial qualifiers and a USA Junior Team member.
Bob has also been very active in US and Wisconsin Swimming.  He served as Wisconsin Senior Chairman for a number of years and has been on many state and national swimming committees.  He also created and implemented many of the major competitions held in Wisconsin, including the Schroeder A+ and the Western Great Lakes Open (WGLO) meets.  Bob has received numerous "Certificate for Outstanding Coaching" awards from the American Swimming Coaches Association, and is a certified ASCA Level 5 Coach (highest level).
Bob and Ann have two children.  Both had long, successful swimming careers.  Emily graduated from Northeastern University in Boston as a Music Industry major and now lives in Brooklyn, NY.  She is co-owner of Whitesmith Entertainment, a Musician/Comedian/Athlete management company, as well as a record label, Readymade Records.  Her latest client is Olympic Gold Medalist, Anthony Ervin.  Jesse is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a major in Social Media/Communications/Political Science.  He lives in San Francisco and works for a non-profit law firm called Public Advocates as their Social Media Director.

Todd Hill

Todd is the Head Diving Coach for both the Schroeder Dive Team and the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.

Todd has been the Head Diving Coach for the Schroeder Diving Team since the fall of 2003.  Todd was the Schroeder Assistant Coach beginning in 2000.  In his time at Schroeder, Todd has coached numerous athletes to Junior Regional and Junior Zone Meets, as well as having 2 West National qualifiers and 1 YMCA National Champion in 2004. Todd also assisted with one Junior National Champion in 2001. He is a USA Diving Certified Master Spotter in Mats, Dry board, and Trampoline. Todd has coached many local high schools where he has coached 2 Wisconsin State Champions and 2 high school All-Americans. Todd graduated from UWM with a degree in psychology and was a 4-time NCAA Zone Qualifier.

Ben Bartell

Technical Director


Ben is entering his 13 th year of coaching, and is a product of the Schroeder swim team both as an athlete and coach.

Ben started his competitive career as a sophomore at Cedarburg High school.  After his sophomore year he joined the Schroder swim team and swam for coach Anderson, qualifying for YMCA Nationals in his second year.  

Ben is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, where he competed for the Golden Gophers.  As a collegiate athlete, Ben started as a walk on swimmer and finished his career as a four-year letter winner, a 2-time winner of the “Iron Fish” award (hardest worker in the weight room), a 2 time “Most Improved” award winner, a Big Ten Champion (200 yard backstroke), and an NCAA All-American.  Ben also represented Schroeder at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic trials.

After completing his final season, Ben started his coaching career as a summer assistant coach with Schroeder before returning to the University of Minnesota to spend a year as an assistant coach.

After coaching at the U of MN, Ben worked as an age group coach for the Edina Swim Club in Minnesota.  While coaching for Edina, Ben coached numerous champions at the state and zone levels, state record holders, and swimmers in the national top 10.  During his time in Edina he developed and trained multiple Junior, Senior, and Olympic trials qualifiers.  

After leaving Edina and once again coaching for a short stint at Schroeder in the fall of 2007, Ben returned to Minnesota and in the fall of 2009, Ben was named the Aquatics Director for the Minnetonka School District and started the Minnetonka Swim Club.

As the Head Coach of the Minnetonka Swim Club, Ben coached numerous champions at the state, zone, and sectional levels, and has coached several professional and amateur swimmers to top 8 finishes at Junior National, National, and International competitions. Ben’s most well known swimmer is David Plummer, who has won multiple National titles in 50m and 100m backstroke, qualified for multiple National teams, and earned a silver medal in the Men’s 100 meter backstroke at the 2013 World Championships.

Ben has been a member of the USA National team coaching staff, and served as an assistant coach at USA swimming Zone and National Select camps as well as with Team USA at the 2013 Duel in the Pool in Scotland.  

Ben is passionate about the Packers, coaching, teaching, learning, and helping develop athletes to the best of their abilities.


Wendy Frank

Head Novice Coach / Masters Coach


Wendy coaches Age Group 3, Super 8's, Super Stars, Schroeder Stars, Home School, Masters, and Adult Novice.  Wendy grew up swimming for the Milwaukee Recreation Department Piranhas and then for Schroeder.  She has an extensive aquatics background and has taught swimming for Milwaukee County and has been a lifeguard at Milwaukee County pools and beaches.   Wendy is a massage therapist, she coaches the Masters team and is an avid water polo player.

Ann has been a successful US Swimming, YMCA and high school coach for many years.  Her present duties with the Schroeder Swim Team include working with the team's Group 1 swimmers and helping her husband Bob in developing the Schroeder expansion program on Milwaukee's south side.
Ann has come full circle by returning to Schroeder.  She began her coaching career as the Head 8 & Under/Novice coach for the original Schroeder Swim Team in the late 1970's.  Her work in introducing novice swimmers to the sport resulted in many Schroeder swimmers moving on to long, highly successful swimming careers, including national and international recognition.
Ann's next coaching position was with the Lake Country Swim Team where she served again as the Head 8 & Under/Novice coach.  At the same time, she was also the head coach for the Arrowhead Girls' High School Team.  Under her leadership, AHS qualified their first swimmer for the WIAA State Meet in 1982.  Ann quickly improved the team, and the AHS girls won their first state championship in 1987.  While at Arrowhead, she developed a number of Wisconsin All-State and All-American swimmers as well as high school state champions and record holders.  She was selected WISCA's coach of the year for two years by her fellow high school coaches.
Outside of swimming, Ann earned a second degree in secondary education, and taught at Pewaukee Middle School.  She also coached girls and boys middle school track at Pewaukee.
Ann latest coaching position was with the Southwest Aquatic Team.  She coached the 8 & Under swimmers and worked with the team's middle school, high school and college swimmers instructing yoga for their dryland program.

Becky L Young

Head Novice Coach South


Becky is the lead coach for Super 8-1, Super 8-2, and Age Group 3 at the south location. She also assists with Age Group 1 and Age Group 2. 

Becky grew up in Wheaton, IL., swimming for the BR Ryall YMCA.  She previously coached two high school programs and produced numerous state qualifiers.  Last season, she coached the Buehler YMCA Team in Palatine, IL., and worked with swimmers of all ages and abilities, including several Illinois YMCA State Champions, Illinois Age Group State Qualifiers, and YMCA National Team Members.

Becky has her undergraduate degree in Special Education from Indiana University.  She is currently attending Cardinal Stritch University and working on her Masters Degree in Sports Management.  

Eric Christopher Johnson

Eric Johnson has been named to help lead the Masters Program at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.

Eric is currently the assistant coach for the Germantown High School Girls and will be the head coach of the Menomenee Falls High School boys.  He previously coached at Birmingham-Southern University as an Assistant Swimming & Diving Coach.  Johnson swam at the 2013 YMCA Master National Championships.

Johnson is originally from Seattle, Wash., and is a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was a four-year letter winner and two-time team captain for the Badger swim team. He is the UW-Madison record-holder in the 100-yard breaststroke, was a six-time Big 10 finalist, and NCAA qualifier. Johnson was also an Olympic trial qualifier in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke.

In addition, prior to coming to the WSAC, Johnson was an age group coach and coached two Olympic trial qualifiers as well as multiple sectional champions.

Johnson is an 18-year swimming veteran, participating in high school, club (King Aquatics), and summer swim league. He has participated at every level in the sport, including zone qualifier, multiple time state champion, Big 10 finalist, NCAA qualifier, national finalist, and Olympic trials qualifier.

Gary Cox

Assistant Diving Coach


Coach Gary Cox has been coaching diving since 1985.  A former Nebraska Cornhusker, Cox was an assistant Dive Coach for the University of Nebraska before moving to Schroeder in 1989.  Gary led Schroeder's Dive Team until 2003 when he moved to administration within the YMCA organzation.  Gary was also the UW-M Diving Coach during his time in Wisconsin.  Gary is the National Coordinator for YMCA Competitive Diving and in USA Diving's Board of Director.  He has two sons Danny a 3 time NCAA All American for Purdue and 2012 USA Olympic Dive Trials participant and Nathan who is at Purdue as an undergrad.

Gary has coached at all levels of the sport and has developed nearly three decades of the area's finest athletes.

Don Jackson

Super Stars Coach


Don is a volunteer coach for Super Stars, Masters and he is an avid golfer. He and his wife Jessie, had three boys go through the YMCA's swim team. His oldest was a multiple team record holder and was a YMCA National Champion. Don is retired from the Milwaukee Fire Department where during his career he rose from the rank of Fireman to second in command, as Assistant Chief.  When Don isn't enjoying a round of golf, playing guitar or swimming with the Masters team, he does an outstanding job with Schroeder's youngest swimmers teaching fundamentals, values and fun. Don also has introduced and mentored many adult athletes in the Schroeder Masters Team.

Tracy Kellner

Assistant Swim Coach


Tracy has been coaching all levels at Schroeder since 1997. Tracy currently coaches Super Stars and is an expert with meet management. She was an outstanding sprinter and an NCAA All American for the University of Iowa where she graduated with a 4.0 in Mechanical Engineering.  Kellner is among the best area triathletes and with regular podium finishes. She is the mother of three: Doug, Julius and Alison and is married to former Schroeder YMCA Team record holder and NCAA All American sprinter Todd Kellner.

Sarah S Wenszell

Assistant Swim Coach


Sarah grew up swimming on the Schroeder YMCA Swim Team and now coaches Schroeder's Super 8s. Sarah is currently at UW-Milwaukee getting her bachelor degree in Athletic Training and then her masters degree in Physical Therapy.

Alexander Kang Hallam

Alex, is the lead coach for Senior 2, Junior and Senior 3 teams and assists with Senior 1 at the South location.

Alex has had a long career as a swimmer and now is continuing his passion for the sport through coaching. He has been coaching since 2012 and has coached with age group to senior levels.

Alex attended the Univeristy of Wisconsin- Greeny Bay, where he swam all four years and graduated with degrees in Psychology and Human Development. Alex swam distance free, IM, and backstroke while he swam for the Phoenix. He was also president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee where he represented Phoenix student athletes in the Horizon League Conference.   

He is originally from Wausau, Wisconsin, where he swam with the TIDE Swim Club. He went to East High School where he was part of a record setting team throughout his high school career. Highlighted by a State Championship and All American Honors as a part of the East Boys' 200 Medley Relay.
