The 2nd Florida Kids Triathlon is
coming your way soon, Sunday November 8th, 2009 at Frank
Brown Park.
PCST partners with KIDS TRI
2 http://www.kidstri2.com/ and
encourages all of our swimmer-athletes (ages 4 - 16) to participate
in this great local event. The attached flier has all the Kids
Triathlon details.
The following is forwarded from the Kids Tri 2
Race Director, Koren Kuna.....
Kids Tri 2 is pleased to announce
a partnership with Athletes for a Cure!
This year at the Florida Kids
Triathlon, Kids Tri 2 is helping to raise money for Athletes for a
Cure! http://www.athletesforacure.org/
A little history is needed
here...
Kids Tri 2 is based out of
Clermont, FL so when it came time to organize the Florida Kids
Triathlon, I needed help in Pamana City Beach to get the ball
rolling. A great group of guys emerged who were local triathletes
and they helped Kids Tri 2 organize the first Florida Kids
Triathlon.
One of these local triathletes,
Brett Troia, became instrumental in much of the organization before
the race and on race day. Those of you who have been to the PCB
kids triathlons know Brett as my race day announcer! In addition to
becoming my assistant race director, Brett and his family have also
become close friend of mine.
Only 2 months after the Florida
Kids Triathlon, I received a call from Brett telling me he had been
diagnosed with prostate cancer. Brett is only in his 40s and a
healthy and active man! To say I was shocked is an
understatement!
But I am happy to say Brett has
won his battle and will be racing Ironman Florida this year on
November 7th (the day before the second Florida Kids
Triathlon).
Many of you know that Kids Tri 2
is only run by me and does not operate on a large budget.
Nonetheless, I am trying to do what I can to help with the causes
close to my heart (look for a partnership with the Blazeman
Foundation soon as well).
So to help Athletes for a Cure
and to honor my friend, Brett, I am asking everyone to help with
Brett’s fundraising efforts!
