Caledonian Meet - FIVE LIONS POOL RECORDS AND TWO SSC RECORDS BROKEN

 

Results are now available for the Caledonian Meet. On the second night of competition, five Lions Pool Records were broken, two by Lara Butler, one by visiting Aussie swimmer Cara Davidson and one by Caymanian Olympian Shaune Fraser. Catriona MaCrae established a pool record in the 9-10 400IM as well.

In addition to the pool records, Tobias Mikklesen and Iain MacRae set new club records in the 8 and under boys age group, Iain in the 50M Butterfly and Tobias in the 200M Freestlye

Shaune and brother Brett started out the meet with an exhibition swim, in which Shaune smashed the Pool Record by more than 2 seconds, swimming the 50M Butterfly in 24.77 Seconds. Brett narrowly missed a Pool Record himself, swimming a 26.68 second 50M back, just short of the record of 26.61 held by Olympic gold medalist, Jeff Rouse of the USA. 

Lara later took down the 13-14 girls 100free and 400IM records in times of 1:02.28 and 5:17.22

The fourth Lions Pool record of the first night was in the senior 200back, Cara Davidson clocking in at 2:24.70 having flown in from Melbourne, Australia less than 24 hours prior, boy her arms were tired!

 

Our club is a year round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competitor.

All of our coaches, as members of the American Swim Coaches Association, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification programs for youth coaches of any sport in the Cayman Islands. They provide assurances that the time children spend in swimming will be quality time.
