Since 1991, the Hallowell Hurricanes Swim Team has provided young people the chance to experience competitive swimming in a fun environment. All members of the Hallowell and Lake Hallowell community pools between the ages of 4-18 can join. Besides offering competitive swimming, the team has three important goals:
1. To provide competent coaching so that swimmers can improve their skills and better enjoy the sport.
2. To help swimmers develop self-discipline and self-pride as they assume the responsibilities of belonging to a team and working with others.
3. To encourage family participation and sharing in the fun and excitement of the meets and other activities.
Each year more and more team members choose to swim year-round in the Rockville-Montgomery Swim Club (RMSC) at the nearby Olney Swim Center because of their positive summer experience with the Hurricanes. Our team is proud of the large number of families we have exposed to the great sport of swimming.
