The West Shore YMCA Competitive Swimming Program consists of seven (7) levels from the swimmer that wants to “keep in shape” by swimming one day per week to the experienced senior level athlete. The YMCA competitive swimming program accepts all swimmers no matter what ability. We provide a supportive and encouraging environment designed to develop the swimmers body, mind, and spirit and stressing the YMCA Character values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. A strong “Team” concept is established in order to create a large support group which allows the athlete to propel themselves further in their effort to fulfill their goals. The concepts of Teamwork and Sportsmanship are consistently reinforced. As the swimmers move up the ladder of group progressions, there is also the acknowledgment of the desire to become a more dedicated and hardworking individual. It is the desire of the West Shore YMCA Competitive Swimming Programs to provide each swimmer fun, excitement, and challenges.
