Welcome to Shoreline LIGHTNING Swimming

West Michigan's premier USA swim team........Fully CHARGED and Swimming even Faster,,,,,!
Kevin Losee,13, of Spring Lake capped off a terrific winter of USA Swimming by medaling (top 8) in all 6 of his events at the 13/14 & Open State meet hosted by Michigan Swimming & Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics at the
Holland Aquatic Center, March 20-22. Kevin had Personal Best times in all his events, and his 200 freestyle time of 1:47.60 was a Top 50 time in the USA. His 200 Fly time of 2:03.48, good for a 3rd place medal in one of the toughest events in swimming, is a Top 100 USA time as well. Joining Kevin and making Finals were Jen Meulenbelt,15, and Meg Peel,16, of Spring Lake, both with Personal Best times in all their events. Jen and Meg also made USA Sectional cuts as well, Jen in the 100 & 200 Breaststroke & Meg in the 100 & 200 Backstroke. Cam Peel,14 of Spring Lake had Personal best times in all his events. Will Brown,14, of Spring Lake and Anna Kutschke,16, of Manistee, also made State team and competed at Holland. Huge fun watching all the best Senior swimmers in Michigan racing to the wall and a very well run meet by MLA.

Huge congratulations to our 12 & Under State Team, all 17 participants, who amassed 300 points finishing in 12th place out of 67 USA teams competing at the 2015 Michigan Swimming SCY State Ch. meet at Kentwood HS. Leading the charge were Kathryn Ackerman, 12, & Joey Wachter, 12 who each took home a 2nd Place Individual Top Point trophy and both winning 1st place champion medals in 3 events along the way. Kathryn was not just swimming fast, she was on fire, setting State records in the 100IM & 200IM, while narrowly missing a record in 200Br, 2:25.72! The 11 & 12 Girls 200IM was perhaps the most exciting race of the meet with the 4 top ranked 12yr old girls facing off in an event that highlights all around swimming skills. Kathryn's winning time of 2:08.25, not only smashed the State record but a Junior National cut as well, truly an amazing accomplishment, much less for a 12 yr old. Joey won all his Freestyle events, dominating the competition from start to finish, leaving no doubt who is the fastest 12 yr old boy in Michigan. 23.76 in 50Fr, 52.20 in 100Fr & 1:54.78 in 200Fr at 12 is kind of unreal. Also gathering huge points for SLS Team was Georgia Basil,12 who placed in 5 of 6 events including a 6th place medal in 400IM. Alonna Clark,12, the only SLS swimmer to make State cuts in all 16 events ! & Ellyn Skodack,12, both made finals and along with Kathryn & Geogria, medaled in the 200Fr (8th) & 200IM(6th) relays. Way to go girls. By far, the fastest 12 & U State meet ever with 10 new State records set. Just breathtaking to watch these young swimmers compete at such a high level while remembering that excellence is achieved through hard work & dedication, day in & day out, year after year. Striving everyday to be the best we can is Shoreline Lightning Swimming.
