Welcome to Our
Team!
CAST has a great program geared to helping
develop better kids through swimming. Our team practices at the
Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center
pool in San Diego. The levels on
our team are based on skill level, not by age and we have a
professional coaching staff that gives every swimmer the
opportunity to excel.
Please be aware that these are
NOT swim lessons! Although swimmers will learn a
great deal about proper and efficient swimming, the swimmers will
be in a group environment. Be patient as good swimming skills take
time. Great swimming skills take many years to perfect.
We do allow parents on deck during practice. We
must insist, however, that you remain in the bleachers during
practice, and do not communicate (in any way) with your swimmer
during practice. Any communication must be directed through the
coach. This is not easy. Most parents naturally want to encourage
their swimmers. Please reserve this until after practice. If you
think your swimmer is not doing something properly, address the
coach after practice instead of addressing the swimmer. Your role
as a parent is to support your child’s efforts in swimming
while the coach’s role is to help them learn as much as
possible about swimming and life while participating with
CAST.
CAST is a competitive swim team and the coaching
staff encourages all swimmers to compete in about one regulated
swim meet per month. In addition, there is an annual team banquet
that all swimmers and their families are encouraged to attend and
an annual swimmer’s retreat.
For their first practice, your swimmer will
need:
1 -
Swimsuit
2 -
Goggles
3 -
Towel
4 - Fins
(while not required for first practice, they will need them very
quickly)
Monthly fees are charged depending on a swimmers
placement within a group. There is an annual registration fee,
which covers insurance and registration in United States
Swimming.
Monthly Dues:
• Fees range from $79-$145 per month depending on group
placement.
•A $5 discount for each additional swimmer within the
family.
•Fees are due on the first of each month.
•Late charge for fees paid after the 10th of the month.
•There are mandatory fundraising requirements for each
member/family.
•CAST has a no refund policy.
Please see the "Forms/Documents" tab above for more
information and a CAST Team application.
