Besides swimming fast there are many benefits to
participating in our sport and team. They include:
- Meeting terrific people
–
Many swimming buddies become
lifelong friends.
- Great exercise for cardiovascular and overall
fitness –
Swimming is a low-impact physical activity that can be done for a
lifetime!
- Self-discovery– The aquatic
environment is a great place to learn and grow toward your
potential
- Fun –
Age group swimming is exciting and
rewarding!
- Challenge – No one rides the
bench in swimming! Everyone has an opportunity at every meet to
compete against other athletes of similar
abilities.
- Life skills – Swimmers learn time management, goal
setting, self-discipline, sportsmanship and other valuable tools
for success.
- Improved Academic Performance
–
the discipline and other skills acquired coupled with aerobic
exercise can improve brain function; varsity swimmers & teams
historically have higher average GPA’s than other athletes,
sports teams and the non-athlete student population at all grade
levels.
- Fantastic, caring coaches
–
Ourprofessional staff
is dedicated to
helping each athlete develop and grow as swimmers and
people.
- Parental Involvement - With an encouraging, helpful attitude
parents have the opportunity to positively impact our program and
their child's swimming experience.
The fees associated with swimming
with Sugar Creek come from a few different places:
·
Our club operates as
part of Indiana Swimming and USA Swimming, and we collect an annual
membership fee from each swimmer that is then passed onto those
organizations.
·
Membership dues for
SCSC help to cover the swimmer’s use of the facility and
compensation for the coaching staff.
·
Swim meets serve a
dual purpose for all swimmers and teams - they offer athletes a
chance to compete against others, and they provide funding for the
hosting club. The cost to the swimmer is typically $3-$4 dollars
per event swum in a swim meet.
·
The cost for
’equipment’ is limited to goggles, a swim cap, and at
least two swim suits: one for practice and another for
competition.
·
Financial assistance
from the team in the form of discounted fees is available for those
families in need. Proof of eligibility for free or reduced school
lunch is required to receive these discounts, please speak with
Coach Hesse or Coach Dowd for more information.
