Mission:
is to provide a
program of long-term personal development and competitive swimming
excellence
Vision:
is to be recognized
as the premier youth sports program in Northeast Indiana
History:
SWAC Swim Team was formed
in 1994 by a small group of residents of southwest Allen County and
has grown to over 200 swimmers. SWAC is managed by an
executive board of parents and the head coach. SWAC competes as a
team in Indiana and throughout the Midwest under the sanction of
the national governing body - USA Swimming, Inc. and the
State’s governing body - Indiana Swimming, Inc. SWAC operates
as a not-for-profit organization.
SWAC uses a ‘progressive’ age group
program designed to develop the child physically, mentally and
emotionally in a systematic fashion. A well-defined, long-term
approach of gradually increasing performance levels is crucial for
optimal performance during a swimmer’s physiological and
physiological prime. The emphasis in the early stages of
participation must be placed on developing technical skills and a
love for the sport. In the later years, a more demanding
physical and psychological challenge must be introduced to the
training program.
At each level in the SWAC program, swimmers are
instructed to strive for excellence. Excellence in this sense
represents the achievement of that level at which you know that you
have done your utmost to become the best you are capable of
becoming. This philosophy is consistent throughout the program
and every SWAC swimmer, novice to Olympian, is encouraged to
‘Be the Best You Can Be’.
Swimmers are encouraged to attend as many
practices as they wish. Self-improvement is closely linked to
increased practice attendance, membership, however, is
not.
