Frequently Asked
Questions
When does the team
practice?
The team swims Monday
through Friday from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at the HCSD Aquatic Center
located at Merton Williams Middle School. How many nights per
week a swimmer trains is an individual swimmer’s personal
decision, however, more time spent in practice means better results
at swim meets. New swimmers typically attend practice at
least 3 nights per week.
How do I
join?
Go to the
FORMS section of this page to download the
HAST membership form and
the USA Swimming registration
form. Bring these to the pool when you come to
practice. One of the HAST board members is usually there
and can take them for you, or any swim parent or coach can show you
the file box where you can leave the forms.
Where Do My Dues/Fees Go?
Your annual dues and
fees go toward paying for the coaching staff, building fees, league
fees, USA
swimming fees, insurance, mailings, and miscellaneous
expenses.
What
additional expenses can I expect?
There are entry fees
associated with some of the swim meets the HAST swimmers
participate in. Swim suits, caps, and goggles are other items
swimmers need to purchase.
What Can I
Do As a Parent?
Get involved! Our
program depends on parent volunteers. We cannot operate without
them As a parent, you are expected to volunteer your time to help
out our team. Your involvement can be anything from timing at meets
to being a USA official. Most positions do not take more than a
couple of hours a month. Our coaches are paid, but the running of
the club is done by people just like you and me, as volunteers!
Many hands make light work! The benefits to our youth are
priceless! A side benefit is you too will have fun.
