Re: 2009--2010 YMCA Swim Team

The 2009--2010 YMCA Swim Team is just around the corner. Tentative plans call for team practices to officially begin Monday, September 14, 2009. Enclosed for your information is a copy of the registration procedure for the swim team program. The registration procedure is the same as it has been for the past few years.

Also enclosed is a description of the various team levels and fee information. I am looking forward to working with both swimmers and parents as we prepare for another successful YMCA season.

All questions pertaining to the YMCA Swim Team should be directed to Coach Bob by email: coachbob@edwyswim.org

2009--2010 Registration Procedure
The following procedure has been adopted regarding registration for the 2009-2010 Swim Team season. Swim Team practice is tentatively scheduled to start on Monday, September 14, 2009.

A. Participants in the 2008--2009 Swim Team will have first priority for registration. Last year’s team members have until August 28, 2009 to contact the YMCA and register. First payment of fees is due as described on the sign up form. This category also includes siblings of last year’s team members who did not swim in 2008-2009.

B. Starting August 29th, 2009, individuals who were NOT on last year’s team, but who are current members of the YMCA or reside within Edwardsville School District #7 will be given the opportunity to register. If spaces are available, those who fall in category A may still register.

C. Starting September 5th, 2009 if spaces are still available, interested participants who reside outside the Edwardsville School District may register provided they purchase a membership as described in the “Rules That Govern YMCA Swimming”.

Additional Information
Families with outstanding fees in any YMCA programs must settle that debt with the Y before they will be permitted to sign up for the 2009-2010 season.
Special arrangements for payment of fees, for personal reasons, may be made by contacting the Executive Director prior to the date the fees are due.

Membership Requirement:
YMCA District and National Policies state all team members must be annual members of the local YMCA they compete for to participate in meets. The YMCA must verify membership of participants to the District prior to the first meet. Membership scholarships are available for those in need. Contact the Executive Director if you need additional information. If you purchase a bank draft payment plan for your membership you must continue it for an entire calendar year.  Failure to do so may be a violation of the membership rules as described in “Rules that Govern YMCA Swimming”. Penalty for this violation is that the swimmer will be deemed ineligible for the following season and their results for the current season will be voided.
