Discounts
You may deduct 5% from the cost of the 2nd
child in the family, 10% from the 3rd child, etc. (Child in
the most expensive program is considered the "1st child.")
Refunds
If you wish to withdraw from the program, you
must notify the office in writing no later than 2 weeks after the
start of your program. In this case, a prorated refund will be
granted. After the 2 week period has passed, you are obligated to
pay in full. There are no prorated fees available for beginning a
program after the start date.
Scholarship Information
Because we know that swimming can be an
expensive sport, we will be offering two SCHOLARSHIPS to deserving
athletes for the 2009-2010 year. Each scholarship covers one
calendar year of swim training---the fall session, the January
session, and the summer session. Here are the offerings:
• One Sr. Competition group scholarship worth $645 toward the
fall session, $645 toward the January session, and $300 toward the
summer session.
• One Jr. Competition group scholarship worth $495 toward the
fall session, $450 toward the January session, and $225 toward the
summer session.
In order to apply for the scholarship, send the following to the
Hydro-Sonic office by August 15, 2009:
• A paragraph (or more) written by the swimmer
explaining why he/she would like to train with us and what he/she
hopes to gain from the experience
• A paragraph written by the swimmer’s parent(s)
explaining why the scholarship should be granted to this particular
swimmer
• A registration form (which can be downloaded from our
website)
Rules regarding the use of scholarship funds:
• Parents of the scholarship recipient are responsible for the
session payment (less the scholarship amount) at the start of each
session.
• Coaches reserve the right to remove any child from the
program in the case of inappropriate behavior or insufficient
practice attendance. If a scholarship swimmer is asked to leave the
program, scholarship funds designated for future sessions no longer
apply.
• Scholarship funds must be used for the specific
program for which they are granted; this money may not be used by
the recipient or by his/her family to pay for other Hydro-Sonic
programs.
August 2009 Message
It’s that time again! Our fall 2009
information is now available on our web site. Here,
you can register online (click
here) or print a registration (
click here) and send it in by email, fax, or regular mail.
Early Bird registration for returning families will run through
August 2. After this date we will begin to confirm
registrations for new families. Please
note: there is no change in our program fees or registration
fees from last season. To view all of the details about
the different programs TIBU offers, please check our
Programs tab, to view schedules and calendars
for these programs, check the
Group Schedules tab.
For our
returning swimmers: We are so glad that you are returning to
our TIBU family this fall, and we want to thank you for referring
your friends and neighbors to us. As always, your promotion
of the TIBU name—by wearing our t-shirts and caps, by talking
us up, by handing out flyers at your summer pool, and, of course,
by swimming fast — is our best advertisement.
For new TIBU
swimmers: Welcome to our website and please let us know how we
can help you make the best decision you’ll ever make —
joining the Hydro-Sonic Tiburones family. If you’re looking
for a personalized, friendly team with top-notch coaches and proven
results, look no further than TIBU.
Our lineup this fall is
similar to last year’s, with a few exciting changes, which
are highlighted below:
•
Family Fun
Nights will be held
approximately once a month at 6:00 on Saturday nights. The
events for these nights will vary from raft night to silly relay
races (with parents perhaps?) to movie night. The objective
is to add a little fun and team bonding in ways that have worked
well for our MCSL summer teams.
• Video Cameras will be
used to capture swimmers during practices. Coaches will then
review the footage with swimmers to identify strengths and
weaknesses.
• Parent Meetings will
occur at least once a session. We hope that these meetings
will foster communication between coaches and parents, and that we
can address key issues and concerns for the children’s
benefit.
• We will institute a Mentoring
Program for new families in the Competition Team programs
to help newcomers navigate their way through meet sign-ups and
complicated schedules.
• Paul Wolf, whom some of
you know as a dedicated swim parent at Whetstone, will officially
join our coaching staff. Paul has an extensive background in
swimming himself and is a certified USA Swimming
official.
• Beth Silva will assume a
greater role in the organization. Specifically, she will work
in the office with Michelle Callanan, and she will serve as
coordinator for the continuing education of our coaching
staff.
• Nathan Meadows will be a
full-time TIBU coach, bringing his knowledge and coaching
talents to several additional practice groups.
• Dryland Training for the
Competition Teams will be more structured and will include
nutritional advice, goal-setting and sports psychology information,
and yoga and Pilates work. In order to best serve our
athletes, we will employ professional consultants in these areas in
constructing our program.
