This edition of the Final Words for the Week covers only the meet at Terra Linda...yeah!
Terra Linda: Where it Is and Warm-ups at 8:00am
Not too far away, off of the Freitas Parkway at 670 Del Ganado, is the Terra Linda community pool (hence the early start time). But don't fret, this pool has 8 lanes, so the meet should move along at a nice pace. Click here to get the address and read more notes provided for us by their team...There is enough space to spread out, with enough grass for tents...a bit cozier than our space, but with so many on vacation, it won't feel squished.
Volunteer Check In
We will have a check-in volunteer at the meet. She will attend the timer's meeting for both the first half and second half of the meet and take attendance there. She will also check in with the ribbons volunteers--in other words she will find you while you work. For first half timers and stroke and turn judges, there will be a meeting at 8:00 with Terra Linda head timer and I assume referee--listen for announcements as they aren't specific about where the meeting will be held.
Heat Sheets and Relays
Please click here to find the heat sheets for the meet along with that all important Heat/Lane Report by Swimmer (all girls listed first alpabetically by last name, then boys). Additionally, since this is a dual meet you will also find RELAYS next to the Heat/Lane Report. All age group relay teams are made up of two boys and two girls. Swimmers earn spots on relay teams based on their times. Please review these relay teams carefully. Also note that relays appear on the Heat/Lane report as well and the number next to the Heat and Lane represents the swimmers position on the team...i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. The free relay for the 11-12 A team appears to have 6 swimmers on it, 2 of which are actually Orca swimmers. This was caused by a bug in the meet prep software. Don't worry, only our 4 listed WAVE swimmers will swim in this event.
What do Relay Swimmers Need to Know?
While we did our best to try and figure out notes, it is entirely possible that your child has been placed in a relay that s/he will not be able to make. If this is the case, PLEASE notify our head Age Group Coordinator, Kathy Slaught (firstname.lastname@example.org) ASAP so that she may begin working with coach Marie to find a replacement. If your child is scheduled to swim in a relay and does not show, it is disappointing to all the kids on their team.
Where Should Swimmers Check In?
Not sure where the Age Group Coordinators will be on Saturday (honesty is the best policy). However, it will be easy to figure out once we are there. Please be sure to check in with the appropriate age group coordinator starting at 7:45 am.
GO WAVES! This won't be as close as our last couple of meets, but it will be an exciting one with lots of great races!
