"Each Zone may offer one Zone Senior Championship meet at the
end of every summer, to be held either during the week of the
National Championships or the week of Junior National
Championships. The competition will be governed by the Zone.
- The competition is for athletes 15 years and older as of the
first day of the meet.
- Athletes at this meet will represent their clubs or swim
unattached."
Initial Statement to the Zone
The formation of the Western Zone Senior Championship (WZSC) meet
brings several issues to bear on the Western Zone as a whole.
Although the Zone Board supports the concept of this meet, one of
our concerns is to alleviate any deleterious effect it might have
on the Western Zone athletes and hosts. To that end, in order to
provide additional opportunities for our athletes, the Board has
agreed on the following:
- The Senior meet shall be held as a separate meet from the Age
Group meet.
- That the Age Group host may also host the Senior meet with
first right of refusal.
- That the 2009 Senior meet be awarded to Hawaii.
- The meet format and time standards must be approved by the Zone
board.
- Meet guidelines will follow shortly.
