The Canby Gators played host to 100 swimmers from
Oregon and southwest Washington on December 27th as the
27th Annual Wild Hare Animal meet was at the Canby Swim
Center. The 13 and Over swimmers swim the 400 IM, 200 Fly and the
1000 Free, while the 12 and under swimmers swim the 200 IM, 100 Fly
and the 500 Free. The Canby Gators were well represented as they
had 25 swimmers in the meet and had several swimmers in the top 10
with Noah Norris winning the 12 and under boys division.
The Gators had several top finishers in the Canby Wild Hare Animal
Meet. Noah Norris finished first for the 12 and under
boys. Ryan Cully finished 3rd, Trystan Given was
9th, Michael Haring was 10th and Cole DeRisio
was 12th in the same age group. On the 12 and
under girls side Veronica Norris finished 12th for Canby
and Dane Yu & Carson Manning finished in the top
30. The group was rounded out by a pair of 8 year-olds,
Kaitlyn Hester and Madeline Meredith, swimming the meet for the
first time.
Canby had many 13
and over swimmers in the meet. In the girls
events Samantha Smith finished 3rd and Brandi
Beko finished in 5th place. The next finishers for
Canby were Anna Kralovec in 11th, Krissy Peterson
12th, and Kayley Guay in
13th. Also swimming for the Gators on the
girls side were: Carrie Kralovec, Alex Hendrick, Sara Scott, Leah
Halderman, Kendra Olsen and Kylie Oster.
The Gator 13 and
over boys finished with Tyson Polack in 4th
place, Michael Hargitt in 6th, Luke Welle in
7th and Tim Norris in 15th place.
Besides very good
finishing places for the Canby Swimmers there were twelve with all
best times and six state qualifiers and Tyson Polack broke the team
record in the 1000 free for 15-18 boys with a time of 10:27.92.
Finishing with all best times were: Cole DeRisio, Trystan Given,
Michael Haring, Kaitlyn Hester, Carson Manning, Madeline Meredith,
Kayley Guay, Alex Hendrick, Tim Norris, Kendra Olsen, Kylie Oster
and Luke Welle. State qualifiers were: Noah Norris, Michael
Haring, Carrie Kralovec, Tyson Polack, Samantha Smith and Luke
Welle.
