Shaving 1.5 seconds off of her previous personal best, WOW
swimmer Cari Blalock took home first place in the Women’s 100
yard Butterfly at the Senior Southern Zones Championships last
night.
Her time of 53.79 is a new North Carolina State Record and a new
World Championship Trials Cut.
The race was close the entire way, but in the last 10 yards Cari
took control, besting second place finisher and 2004 Olympian
Amanda Weir, by .23 seconds to win.
Blalock also took home 5th place in the Women’s 400IM,
posting a time of 4:15.68, also a new World Championship Trials
Cut.
Earlier in the day Kelsie Johns dropped two seconds to
post a lifetime best of 1:11.93 in her 100 yard Breastroke.
While Kayla Ford dropped 1.2 seconds in her 100yard Butterfly with
a finishing time of 59.67.
