NCSA Junior National Meet - Bullets Finish 8th Overall
Mar 26, 2009

Wow!!  What a meet the Bullets had in Orlando, Florida last week.  We sent 25 swimmers down to Florida to compete in the 5 day meet.  With it’s unique format (prelims in short course yards and finals in long course meters), it makes for an exciting and unpredictable meet.  The Bullets finished 8th overall as a team and 3rd on the Women’s side....both places were the highest among any swim club from Illinois.  Junior National team members were: Taylor Birsa, Courtney Pope, Karolina Wartalowicz, Diana Norkus, Emma Williams, Mackenzie Powers, Alex Van Oost, Sarah Rendek, Nicole Ligeza, Jackie Iglesias, Francesca Devine, Anna Williams, Rylee Merges, Kara Savegnago, Olivia Scott, Kally Fayhee, Elena Carvell, Tyler Capen, Eric Ahlden, Matt Lifka, Albert Roth, Will Heilder, Will Butzke, Nick Bessler, & Sean Lehane.  Congratulations to all of you on a fantastic meet.

The Bullets had 3 national championship performances at the meet.  Olivia Scott won her first individual event in the 50 Fly on Thursday evening.  Relay swimmers Olivia Scott, Kara Savegnago, Kally Fayhee, and Courtney Pope competed in and won the Women’s 400 & 200 Freestyle Relay events on Thursday and Friday evening.

The Bullets set 3 NCSA Junior National meet records.  NCSA records were set in prelims (short course yards) by Olivia Scott in the Women’s 50 Fly (24.63) and 100 Fly (53.49).  The relay team of Kara Savegnago, Olivia Scott, Kally Fayhee, & Courtney Pope set the NCSA meet record in the 200 Freestyle Relay (1:33.78).

We had a few performances that qualified for the World Championship Trials in Indianapolis in July.  Those swims were: Olivia Scott (100 Fly, 100 Back, 200 Back), Women’s 400 Medley Relay (Olivia Scott, Karolina Wartalowicz, Mackenzie Powers, Courtney Pope), and the Women’s 400 Freesyle Relay (Kara Savegnago, Courtney Pope, Olivia Scott, Sarah Rendek).

Below you can see a list of Bullet Finalists (top 32 individual swims and top 16 relay) and new team record holders.  Full results (including time trials) can be found on our Results page.  Records have been updated to our Records page.
