USA Summer Swimming Meets

CENTRAL CALIFORNIA SWIMMING
REGISTRATION & MEET INFORMATION
2009

Message from Coaches Heather, Rebecca & Emily:

As many of you know, the Sanger Seals placed third overall in the Central Valley Recreational Swim League All-Stars Finals in July 2008. This is the highest we have every placed in our league. We believe this success was due, in part, to expanding our swim seasons to include a Winter Session, Spring Session, and Summer Session. The next step is to start competing at state and national levels through Central California Swimming which is the local committee for USA Swimming.

USA Swimming is the national governing body for competitive swimming in the United States (see website: www.usaswimming.org). The local committee for our region is Central California Swimming, also known as CCS (see website: www.centralcalswim.org). You must be registered with CCS in order to swim at any CCS sponsored meet. This is an additional expense of $59.

We have weekly practices that build towards participation in monthly swim meets. Swimmers are encouraged to attend these meets, apply their technique, and learn about competitive swimming.

Participation in these meets is up to the swimmer and their family. Fees are charged by the host team for each swimmer’s entries. Entries usually range from $2.50-$4.00 per event, with a maximum number of events set by the host club. Most clubs will also charge a “splashý fee for attending the meet to cover costs and also fundraise for their club. These fees are the responsibility of each swimmer/family and are paid on-line when registering for meets. Each meet will post a fact sheet regarding specific information about the meet (due dates or entries, warm-up & meet start times, order of events, awards, etc.) so it is important to read each meet’s fact sheet!

To register with CCS, go to the website: www.centralcalswim.org. Click on the heading, The Dry Side and go to the pull-down menu. Choose Registrations and then select Athletes. When you click on the Register button, the site will take you to a list of teams in the region. Click on Unattached-Central California and hit Continue. If you are new to USA Swimming, click New Athlete. Fill out First Name and Last Name. Fill out the necessary boxes and click Continue. You are registering as a Year Round swimmer. Review information and click the Check Out button. Pay the annual registration fee of $59 and print the page AND the confirmation email. YOU MUST REGISTER WITH CCS BEFORE YOU CAN ENTER ANY USA SWIMMING MEETS!!!

CCS Meet Schedule can be found at our region’s website: www.centralcalswim.org > swim meets > meet schedule
