Golden West Swim
Club was well represented at this year’s CIF Swimming
Championships. Two GWSC
athletes earned individual titles while four more placed in the top
three.
At the Division
I meet Cynthia Fascella and Cindy Tran both claimed two individual
titles. Fascella successfully
defended her title in the 50 (23.04) and 100 freestyle
(50.21). Shelby Webber finished
a close second in the 100 free with a time 51.41.
Tran, the 15-16 national record holder, easily
defended her title in the 100 backstroke with a time of
53.73.
This marks
the third year in a row that Tran has won the 100 back. She also claimed the
100 fly, clocking a time of 54.31.
At the
Division III meet Josh Roe was the Runner up in the 50 (21.29) and
100 Free (46.45). Kelsey Cummings and
Daniela Villegas both earned third place finishes at the
meet.
Cummings
finished third in the 500 free, while Villegas finished third in
the 100 back.
