Tracy Vogel Wins Wisconsin Open Water State Championship

Lake Country Phoenix swimmer, Tracy Vogel won the 15-18 Girls Open Water Wisconsin State Championship held on Lake Andrea in Kenosha on Saturday, June 27^th.  The first open water state meet was also the state championship meet for Illinois, as well as a Battle of the Border competition between the two LSC’s. Tracy covered the 2-mile course in 41:21, more than 2 minutes ahead of the nearest Wisconsin competitor.  After swimming the first mile shrewdly tucked in the draft of the eventual Illinois champion, Tracy moved into a side-by-side duel for the entire second mile. Tracy won the final sprint to the finish by only 2 seconds. Congratulations Tracy.
