Northwest Swim Circuit
Invitational
July 12, 2009
LOCATION:
The Swim Center is located on the University of Texas Campus, one
block west of IH-35 on the northwest corner on the intersection of
Martin Luther King Boulevard and Red River Street.
SCHEDULE:
July 7, 2008 – 8:00 pm – Teams to provide MEET
ENTRY FILES from the Hy-Tek Team Manager software of qualified
swimmers to the Circuit Computer Representative (Glen Taffinder and
Roger Tramp).
July 11, 2008 –
6:00 pm– Teams are allowed to add events for swimmers who
are new qualifiers in events at the Divisional Meet as long as the
swimmers are not already entered into three events. No
previously qualified events can be added or changed for a
swimmer. Each team re-sends final meet entries that
include the new qualifying swims to the Circuit Computer
Representative. Due to problems in past years the 6:00 pm entry
deadline will be strictly enforced.
July 11, 2008 –
Backup copy of the Invitational Meet are sent to each teams
computer representative.
July 12, 2008 –
9:30 am – Teams may begin setting up in their designated
areas (listed in the Team Location area)
July 12, 2008 –
9:50 am Team Warm ups (Listed in the Team Warm Up / Lane
Assignment section).
July 12, 2008 - 10:30
am Volunteer sign up sheets completed and delivered to Post
Season Meet Director.
July 12, 2008 –
10:40 am Officials Meeting between ready benches at diving well
end of pool.
July 12, 2008 – 11:00 am Start of Meet
QUALIFYING
TIMES:
As posted for the 2009 swim season
MEET
FORMAT: This meet is for the
individual swimmer. There will be no scoring. The meet
will consist of individual events only – short freestyle,
individual medley, backstroke, breaststroke, long freestyle, and
butterfly. All 12 and under swimmers having to swim-up in age
group will swim up to the 13 – 14 age group and may only
compete if they have meet the requirements for the chosen events,
(rule 6.3) in the 13 – 14 age group. A swimmer may
compete in a maximum of three individual events for which they have
a recorded qualifying time in a dual or divisional meet during the
2008 season.
The meet will take place in
two 25-yard pools. The swimmers will be separated by Male and
Female events. Male swimmers well be at the south pool (Texas
Flag) and Female swimmers will be at the north
pool. *Swimmers are designated in each end due to the
location of the male / female locker rooms).
All 25-yard events will be
starting from the bulkhead side of the pools. 50 yard and 100
yard events will start from the starting block side of the
pools.
CHECK-IN:
Each team will be responsible to checking in their
swimmers. There will be NO deck entries allowed.
ENTRY
DEADLINE:
July 7, 2008 – 8:00 pm
ENTRIES:
Swimmers may enter up to 3 individual events in which they have
qualifying times during the 2008 dual meet and divisional meet
season
ENTRY
FEES: $3.50
per event – charged to the swim team by NWSC
AWARDS:
Swimmers will receive medals for First, Second, and Third place
finishes. All other places will receive participation ribbons
in recognition of their participation. Individual swimmers
cannot pick up ribbons at the meet. Ribbons and awards will be
given to the designated team volunteer at the conclusion of the
meet.
PARKING:
On Sunday, use of lot 70 / 99 / 80 is approved for the
meet. Parking enforcement for “yellow curbs”,
“double parking”, “disabled spaces” and
“at all times” spaces remain in effect. For more

DECK
ACCESS: Only AAU and NWSC
registered swimmers who are entered in the meet, coaches, officials
and volunteers on the official volunteer list will be allowed
access beyond the front desk of the Texas Swimming
Center. Those volunteering for Team Parent, Timer,
Starter, Announcer, Stroke Judge, Runner, Hospitality, Swimmer Aid,
Ready Bench, Computer, Meet Directors (North and South Pools), and
Post Meet Director will be given a Deck Pass to access the deck
area and must be helping for that specific purpose. Deck Pass
must be visible at all time or removal from the deck will occur.
There will be no room on deck for swimmers who are not entered
into the meet.
Any non-registered
individuals not respecting these rules will be removed from that
area or from the facility at the discretion of the Meet Director,
Northwest Swim Circuit officials or Texas Swimming Center
Staff.
VOLUNTEERS: Each team
participating in this meet has been assigned various
positions. The team Circuit Representative or designated Team
Official is responsible for identifying those volunteers prior to
the meet. Be sure to select individuals who are certified,
qualified, and experienced for Starter and Stroke Judge
positions.
It is most important that every attempt is made to make
arrangements for team volunteers prior to the Sunday
event. _________________________ will be the point of contact for
volunteers.
HEAT
SHEETS: Each team will provide
heat sheets for their team for this meet. Heat sheets for
officials, coaches and other officials (awards, starters, and
stroke judges) will be provided by the NWSC.
HOSPITALITY: Each
team will be responsible for their swimmer, parents, coaching staff
and meet volunteer needs for any food and drink. Each team
will be allowed two (2) coolers on deck. There will be no
access to the UT Hospitality Room.
SECURITY:
Volunteers for Security will assist in policing the pool
areas. The Security volunteers will be responsible for
monitoring deck entries and checking volunteer names against the
master volunteer list. They will have full authority to not
allow access to the pool deck area with out seeing proper
identification.

Each warm-up time will be
divided:
10 minute for swimming
15 minute for starts
This is to ensure safety of
swimmers by avoiding diving in one lane next to a lane of
swimmers. This will be strictly enforced. Your
team’s warm-up will be cut short if not followed.
The diving well will be available
during the meet for swimmer warm-up and cool down. Remind your
swimmers the use of this pool is not for extended time – it
is not for playtime. If any swimmer is identified as not using
this pool as intended they will be removed from the diving well and
not allowed to return for the duration of the meet.

DECK
PARENTS: Each team will be allowed to have one (1) deck
parent per 15 swimmers. The Deck Parent will be responsible
for helping the swimmers get to their event, keep them out of the
way of meet officials, and out of pool side walkways when not
swimming. It is acceptable for fellow teammates to cheer each
other on – as long as access to the pools is not
blocked.
COACHING
STAFF:
All official team coaches will be allowed on deck. Only two
(2) official team coaches will be allowed poolside to actively
coach swimmers, all others must remain in deck seating
area. Teams must supply an official list of their coaches to
the head meet official prior to the Saturday before the meet.
