5 Barracuda’s Eclipse Twelve
Club Records, achieve Junior Nationals, Sectionals, Far Western
qualifying times.
Emma Hunt, bound for the swim team at
UC Santa Barbara, led a relentless assault by 5 BAMP swimmers on
the club record book at the Pacific Swimming Championships held in
Concord
July 16-19. Emma brought down an
amazing 7 individual long course records while leading BAMP to a
22nd place finish out of 84 teams. 12 year old Allison Short ejected two 11-12
girl’s records while 13 year old’s Colleen
Mayone and Meaghan Hoch erased one apiece in the
girl’s 13-14 age group. Parker
Costa lowered the boy’s 9-10 club record to a 5:29.82 in the
400 meter freestyle on his way to a 5th place
finish.
Emma’s records came in the 100
meter free, 4rth (1:01.11), 200 meter free, 3rd
(2:10.61), 800 meter free, 4rth (9:36.34), 200 m backstroke, 5th
(2:30.58), 100 m butterfly, 5th (1:07.03), 200 individual medley,
scratched finals to prepare for sectional championships after
qualifying 3rd (2:29.57) and 400 individual medley, 4rth
(5:18.00). Emma also placed
5th in the 50 m free with a 28.35. She will join teammates Jessica Schanzer and Blake
Langland at Nevada/California USA Section Championships July 22
– 26 in

CA
.
Blake Langland once again established
himself as one of the best 18 and under swimmers in the
U.S.
with his 2nd place finish in the 50 m free. His 24.24 swim qualified him in his 2nd
event for Junior National Championships to be held in
Federal Way
,
Washington
August 10-15. Blake will also compete
in the 100 meter free where his best time is a 52.97.
Allison Short’s records placed
her 5th in the 50 m back (35.83) and 9th in
the 100 m back (1:15.79) respectively while swimming to
5th in the 50 m free with a 29.52. Her times in these events placed her in the
program for 11-12 girl’s at Far Westerns.
Colleen Mayone (13-14 girls) recorded
her standard in the 50 m free (29.68) in preliminary heats. She posted finals swims in the 400 m free,
3rd (4:48.73), 800 m free, 5th (9:58.59) and 200 m
individual medley, 7th (2:38.82). She
qualified for Far Western Championships in the 100 (1:04.41), 400
& 800 m freestyle events.
Meaghan Hoch (13-14 girls) set a new
BAMP standard in the girls 13-14 200 meter backstroke and qualified
for Far Westerns with a 2:35.80 on her way to 7th
overall in this event.
Parker Costa (9-10 boy’s) raced to a new club record in
the 400 free and placed 9th in the 200 free with a
2:34.89. Parker will join 9-10
boy’s teammate Jackson Klarsfeld at Far Westerns in
San Jose
, July 30 – August 2.
