OHIO JUNIOR OLYMPIC CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

Congratulations to the following swimmers for placing in the TOP 16 in either individual events or relays at the Ohio Long Course State Championship meet this past weekend: 10 & under GIRLS: Gracyn McQueary: 50 breast (3rd) and 100 breast (2^nd); Audrey Mooney: 50 breast (2^nd) *NEW TEAM RECORD of 41.38!! and 100 breast (6^th), and 50 fly (16^th); 10 & under BOYS: Peter Breissinger: 50 back (11^th) and 100 breast (12^th); Mac Dulle: 100 fly (12^th); 11 & 12 GIRLS: Mia Fatuzzo: 50 breast (4th) 37.71 *NEW TEAM RECORD and 100 breast (4^th) 1:22.40 * NEW TEAM RECORD!! Alexis Kapostasy: 400 free (16^th); 11 & 12 BOYS: Michael Norton: 50 fly (14^th); Michael Pettinichi: 50 breast (11^th)    and 100 breast (8^th); 13-14 GIRLS: Kara Sander: 400 free (14^th) and 200 fly (16^th); 13-14 BOYS: Joe Randazzo: 200 back (13^th). RELAYS: 11 & 12 GIRLS: 200 Medley Relay (Stoops, Fatuzzo, Kapostasy, Arlinghaus) 9^th; 200 Free Relay (Arlinghaus, Overbey, Stoops, Kapostasy) 15^th; 400 Medley Relay (Stoops, Fatuzzo, Kapostasy, Arlinghaus) 8^th; 400 Free Relay (Stoops, Arlinghaus, Luapriello, Kapostasy) (13^th); 11 & 12 BOYS 200 Medley Relay (Ericksen, Pettinichi, Norton, Lingo) 10^th; 200 Free Relay (Norton, Pettinichi, Ericksen, Lingo) 10^th; 400 Medley Relay (Ericksen, Pettinichi, Norton, Lingo) 8^th; 400 Free Relay (Norton, Ericksen, Lingo, Pettinichi) 11^th. This was a highly competitive age group meet and our swimmers did a great job!

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Ferrara for breaking the girls 13-14 long course records in both the 800 meter freestyle 9:06.71 (old record was 9:20.50) and 200 meter backstroke 2:25.33 (old record was 2:26.20).

Any graduating swimmers interested in having the swim team office submit this application needs to go to the link on our home page to see what is required. Remember that the application is due by August 1.

One of our 13-14 swimmers, Shaylynn Spelman, is now ranked as one of the top 13 year old girls in the country based on the National Age Group Recognition Program. She is ranked 18^th in the 400 meter free, 5^th in the 800 meter free and 6^th in the 1500 meter free!! This information can be found on the USS swimming website under Times/Time Standards. Way to go Shay!!

ANDERSON BARRACUDA NIGHT

Please join us on Wednesday, July 22^nd at 5:30pm at the YMCA for Barracuda night. We would like everyone to come and say their Good-Byes to the Kapostasy family who will be leaving soon for Australia. The grills will be going, so bring something to grill and even something to share (side dish or dessert) if you want.

We have a few families who have not registered their swimmers yet for the upcoming season. Please take the time to do this. If you have any questions on the process, please don’t hesitate to call the swim team office (474-1400).

Our second tryout date is on Monday, July 27^th. 4:00pm registration/4:30pm start. The following parents have volunteered to help: Shawna Lingo, Tina Lupariello, and Joy Wethington. The following swimmers have volunteered to time: Kara Sander, Emma Siegel, Cara and Grant Wethington, Emma Haynes, Andrea Lupariello. We need a few more swimmers to time, please call the swim team office if you can do this.

Look for group rosters to be posted in August on our website. We will be able to finish group placement after the second tryout date. Remember, group placement is done with the long term development of the swimmer in mind.

Kastaways will be handling the personalized cap orders starting this season. When we receive the order form, we will place it on our website for you to copy and either mail in to Kastaways or place in Tim Hart’s file folder. No phone calls for a cap order will be accepted. In addition, we are adding the new summer white t-shirt to our shirts. If you want to order one of these, you will be able to call Kastaways or print off an order form from our website when it becomes available and mail it to Kastaway. Remember, you do not have to buy one of these white shirts. We just wanted to offer it to our families who did not get one this summer.
