Lake Pleasant Swim and Ride with Coach Juan

Coach Juan plans open water swim and bike ride!!!!!!

***Please note that this is not a USA or Masters swimming sponsored event. Swim Neptune is in no way liable for this event. You are chooising to participate in a social gathering with swimming and biking.***

The swim is out of Lake Pleasant Regional Park.  To beat the heat and some of the crowds I really want to get started by 6:00AM, so please do your best to get there early, this way you have time to get ready for the swim without feeling rushed. We will meet in the parking lot of the North entrance station (look at the attachment of the map for directions).  The swim is an out and back course and we will be starting from a small peninsula just north of the boat ramp. We will head north paralleling the shoreline, and I will be on kayak making sure everyone is doing OK.  The swim distance will be about a mile.  If you own a swim cap bring it.  The swim will be followed by open water drills, such as sighting drills, open water turns, drafting, etc..

Once we complete the swim portion we will head back up to the parking lot to get ready for the GROUP bike ride.  I've decided to make the ride distance 30 miles. No one will be left behind, so if you are on the fence about the ride I want to assure you will not be riding alone. The ride will start at the North entrance parking lot, turn L on Castle Hot Springs Road to west bound SR74.  At the 15 mile mark we turn around and head back to the park. Be prepared for the increasing temperature.  If you have a camelback bring it, if you don't, take three bottles with you, two on your bike and one in your jersey pocket.  Bring something to eat and/or gels, and don't forget spare tubes, tools, bike pump or CO2 cartridges, and what ever else you feel you need out there,i.e. cell phone etc..  For those of you who do not have a lot of experience with open water swims and group rides feel confident that I and some of the other participants will be there to help. I hope to make this a positive and learning experience for everyone, as well as a repeat occassion.

If you are pretty certain that you will be there, please let me know soon.  Hope to see all  of  you there, and don't hesitate to contact me if you have other questions.
