Day 4 Summer JO Write Up
Day 4 was another successful day. In total, we had 4
swimmers in the Championship
Final, and 4 swimmers in the Consolation Finals. We had three
more Sectionals time standards
achieved and a lot more confidence gained. I couldn’t
be more thrilled with our swimmers, they have exceeded my
expectations.
- Nine year old Meghan King swam the 100 Breast and earned a
37th place finish with a time of 1:44.74. She also
swam the 50 Back, earning another 37th place with a time
of 42.78. Watch for Meghan at future Junior Olympics!
- Eleven year old Niles Biolley swam the 100 Breast in an
impressive 1:31.30, earning a 28th place
finish.
- Jessie Ball swam a 3:00.11 in her 200 Breast, good enough for a
29th place finish. More impressively, Jessie
earned another Sectionals time standard in the 50 Free with a time
of 28.18, which was good enough for a 3rd place in
trials. She added a little time in finals and slipped to
6th place, but she still was well under
Sectionals.
- Chesna Biolley had an incredible day, qualifying in third place
in the 200 breast, narrowly missing her Sectionals time standard
with a time of 2:51.49. In finals, Chesna came from behind to
earn a second place finish, improving her time to a 2:49.70, and
smashing the Sectionals time standard! Chesna started the day with
a 2:55.59.
- Macy Sutter, participating in her first Junior Olympics competition, made the
consolation final in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:55.82.
In finals, she improved her time to an impressive 2:54.43 and moved
up one spot to 15th place. It is important to
note, her entry time was a 3:01.27.
- Jordan Capper earned a 12th place finish in his 200
Breast with a time of 2:40.53. There is no doubt Jordan will
have his Sectionals in no time.
- Chris Waechter finished off a very strong meet with a very busy
day. Chris improved all three of his times. In the 200
Breast, Chris improved his time to a 2:49 . 44, earning a
33rd place finish. In the 100 Back, Chris finished with
a 17th place and a time of 1:06.31, down from his entry
time of 1:08.43. He also earned a 44th place in
the 50 Free improving from a 26.78 to a 26.63 for a nice
drop.
- Lindsay Clark finished off an incredible meet with another
great effort. Qualifying 6th in trials with a
38.57, and improving to a 5th place finish in finals
with a time of 38.22. Lindsay improved from trials to finals
in every single race she swam!
- Ten year old Josh Modglin in his first ever Summer Junior
Olympics, earned a 35th place finish in the 50 Back with
a time of 42.99. We are definitely excited about Josh’s
future.
- Haley Slade earned a 28th place finish in her 100
Back with a time of 1:16.54.
- Thirteen year old Austin Takeda finished off a great meet with
two more Consolation Finals. Austin improved from a 1:12.40 in the 100
Back to a 1:10.43 in trials. In finals, Austin moved up from
15th to 13th and improved another second to a
1:09.43! A short time later, Austin competed in the 50 Free,
earning a 15th place finish and a time of 27.67.
- Nine year old Emily Platt had an impressive drop in her first
ever Junior Olympics. Emily dropped from a 35.68 to a 35.24,
good enough for a 31st place finish in the 50
Free. Look out for Emily next year!
- Delani Clark finished off a busy week with another
sprint. Delani improved from a 31.44 to a 31.20 in the 50
Free, earning a 29th place finish.
- Nick Vargas finished an amazing meet by swimming the 1500
Free. Improving his entry time of 17:54.51 down to a
17:19.44, good enough for another second place finish and third
Sectional time standard. Nick is already looking at making
finals at Sectionals!
- Jeff Yoshida also swam the iron man 1500 meter Free and took
off another ten seconds. Swimming in his first ever Junior
Olympics, Yoshi earned a 20th place finish with a time
of 18:49.84.
Good Job to all! Tomorrow is day 5, is a relay only day,
and is the last day of competition. I know our kids will do
well.
Best, Coach Jason
