Updates from Jr. Nationals

Hello everyone,

Notes from Jr. Nationals:

- Kelsi Worrell has competed in 2 events.  On Tuesday in the 100 Free she dropped .6 seconds from her previous best to finish in 58.32 coming in 57th place.  Then on Wednesday in the 100 Fly she dropped 1.4 seconds to finish in 1:02.85 placing 41st overall.  It was exciting as Kelsi held the fastest time in the meet for the first 11 heats of the meet!!!

- Tuesday night all the spectators were treated to a 14 year old girl Melissa Franklin swimming the 6th fastest time by an American ever.  At the 50 yard split the crowd was electrified with Melissa .2 seconds under American record swim!  Everyone went wild!!!  From there a buzz spread throughout the meet and records have been going down all the time.  Great meet so far!!

- On the final day of competition Kelsi dropped .1 seconds in the 50 free (26.89).  This put her in 29th place and .08 seconds from the "C" final (which is 24th place).  What a week of swimming!

- USA swimming home page has a write up for the final day (and for more information go to www.usaswimming.org):  to read it click HERE

In addition to the swim meet: down town Seattle area fantastic.  We ate at the old Spaghetti house (though we are still looking for the "new" one), took pictures of the original Muppet drawing at the Science Fiction Museum (which I may not post because we found out that photos are restricted), and went to the first Starbucks (accompanied by an incredible performance by a sidewalk band).

Next year Irvine, CA!!!
