The Clippers are being well
represented at the USA Junior National Meet in Federal Way,
Washington. This is by far the fastest Junior Nationals in history
with it taking at least a 2009 Olympic Trial cut to make it in the
top 24.
On Wednesday
night Ellen Williamson swam her fastest and
2nd fastest 100 butterfly finishing a 15th
overall. Her time of 1:01.55 puts her as the 3rd fastest
in Ohio Swimming History for 15-16 year olds(behind Mary T. Meagher
and Darcy Fishback).
On Thursday
night Krissie Brandenburg and Ellen
Williamson both qualified for finals in the 100 backstroke.
Both girls swam to their fastest two times in their careers. The
two combined to be the only two girls finish in the top 16 from the
same team in the 100 back.
Ellen’s
time of 1:02.50 put her Top 150(apprx. 107) in the
World Rankings and the fastest in Ohio
Swimming’s history.
Krissie’s time of 1:03.19 puts her just
out of the top 150 in the world by less than .3 seconds. This time
also ranks her 3rd fastest in Ohio Swimming
history for 17-18 year olds behind Betsy Mitchell and Kate
McNeilis.
Nick Kunkel ended his season this morning on a big note
going a life-time best time in the 100 backstroke and finished
39th overall out of 125 swimmers in the events.
His time also ranks him 4th in team history in the
100 backstroke (Cory Chitwood, Adam Isaacs, Chris Seitz)
Shane Coltharp continued his streak of life time best times
in the meet by swimming a best time in the 200 free and the 100
back. Shane’s time of 1:55.58 ranks him 2nd in
Clippers history behind Jason Vadney. Shane became the
5th Clipper in history to break the 1:00 mark.
