Deck Reports: Conrad Kohrs;
Junior Nationals, 2009
August 10, 2009...
In a very exciting heat 16 of
the men’s 100 meter freestyle, Blake Langland came from lane
8 where he was seeded 8th (75th overall) at 52.98 to finish second
in 52.28. His time placed him 52nd out 184th in the country
for all males 18-under, smashing his own club record and qualifying
him for his second senior national short course
championships.
August 13,
2009…
Stormy weather has not deterred
the fastest 18-unders in the country from putting on an
extraordinary display of speed and endurance at the Weyerhauser
Aquatic Center in Seattle. Blake Langland continues to race
well for Barracuda Aquatics. In a prelude to the 50 meter
freestyle preliminaries tomorrow, Blake swam under the existing
BAMP all-time record previously held by his brother Todd Langland
while qualifying in his 2nd event of the meet for senior national
short course championships. His time of 24.12 was recorded
today in an official USA Swimming time trial. In a footnote
to his 100 meter swim on Tuesday, Blake is only .69 seconds off the
qualifying time for Olympic Trials from 2008.
August 14, 2009…
Mr. Langland won his heat, moved up 21 places to
49th out of 160 swimmers and dropped the Barracuda record to 24.10
in the 50 meter freestyle preliminaries this
afternoon.
I look forward to returning
home to the California Coast and winding down the season with some
time to reflect and recharge after a very rewarding year for all
our Barracuda athletes.
Our swimmers are strong and
getting stronger.
