Certification Requirements for Stroke/ Turn:
1. Attend one of the scheduled Stroke/ Turn Clinics throughout the
LSC (periodically posted on the “Bulletins” on the
homepage of South Carolina Swimming).
2. Participate as an apprentice in a minimum of 4 sessions over a
minimum of 2 SCLSC sanctioned meets under the supervision of a
minimum of 2 different Certified/ Registered Referees
3. Take the on- line tests for “Timer” and
“Stroke and Turn” found on the USA Swimming. Org
webpage under the “Volunteers” tab, under Officials/
certifications and tests prompts. Have the results sent
electronically to the Committee Chair along with your completed
Apprenticeship form with all appropriate signatures in place.

"Parents, please make sure to check with your swimmer to see
if they have all of their swim equipment before you leave the pool.
Fins, goggles, caps, kick boards, etc. are often not recoverable
once left at the pool. Coaches will do their best to make sure no
swimmer's gear is left behind, but no one is perfect! This would be
a great help to both the coaching staff and your swimmers! Also, be
sure you purchase a set of fins and a kick board for your
swimmer. (See previous CAT Tales 9/6/09 for ordering
information.) Thank you!"
