Updated swim suit rules

The swim suit rules for competition continue to change.  The most recent rule updates come from USA Swimming and go into effect on Oct. 1.  Basically the high tech suits are no longer allowed.  This will apply for YMCA meets as well as we use the USA Swimming rules.  Here is the rules as passed by USA Swimming. 

The USA Swimming HOD just ended.  The swimsuit legislation is as follows:
 
102.9 SWIMWEAR
 
1. Design
 
A. Swimwear shall include only a swimuit, cap and goggles.  Armbands or leg bands shall not be regarded as parts of the swimsuit and are not allowed.
 
B. In swimming competitions, the competitor must wear only one swimsuit in on or two peices.  All swimsuits shall be made from textile materials.  For men, the swimsuit shall not extend above the navel nor below the knees, and for women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor extend below the knee.
 
C. Only swimsuits complying with FINA swimsuit specifications may be worn in any USA Swimming sanctioned or approved competition.
 
D. Swimsuits worn for competition must be non-transparent and conform to the currrent concept of the appropriate.
 
E. The Referee shall have the authority to bar offenders from the competition until they comply with the rule.
 
 
R-10, Change effective date of swimwear amendment, was approved.  Therefore, the rule change to 102.9 is effective 1 October 2009.
