Weekly Update

Winter Season is off to a Great Start
Many thanks to the following individuals who made our picnic a smooth success: Shawna Lingo/Cathi Sander, who, in turn, organized their crew of Whitney Campbell, Marylin Stoops, Vicki Polanco, Nora Fanning, Peg/Bill Luehrmann, Andrea Montague, Kathy Ferrara, Denise Siegel, Molly Hazelbaker, Matt Luehrmann, Laurie and Steve Myers, and Maria Holaday to put on a fun picnic for all. Thank you also to our teenage face painters! It was funny to see that by the end of the picnic an entire  table of little ones were painting each other! In addition, thank you to Y Facilities Director Jerry Mack and his crew of workers for erecting the dome in record time – a very big project!  Along with this group came our own volunteers who prepared the dome by: installing the bulk-head (long hours of water time), hanging team banners, installing scorer’s table, setting up the sound system, plus general clean-up and set-up.  Many thanks to Greg Howell, George Hardewig, Denise & John Siegel, Keith Ferrara, Mark Lingo and Rob Hazelbaker for their time and efforts. We also appreciate the ongoing efforts and communication of Aquatic Director, Jacob Brooks, who has been very helpful in monitoring the chlorine and cleanliness in the dome. Shawna Lingo has some leftover platters and spoons in case anyone is missing them.
Second Suit Up Day – Kast-a-ways coming!
If you still need to order a team suit, equipment or just get a jump on holiday gift ideas, Kastaways will be in the dome on Friday, Oct. 9th from 4:30-7:30pm. We changed the location of suit up from the exercise room to the dome due to the high volume of families who purchased most of their items at the picnic.

ABLY pictures needed
I would love to receive pictures of our swimmers (in groups of 4 or more) for the website. I have been trying to rotate different photos of the various practice groups on our home page. You can either put them on a flash drive and put it in my file folder outside the swim team office or e-mail me (csander@zoomtown.com) pictures as attachments in jpeg format.
Special Olympics Volunteers Needed
Our YMCA is hosting their annual Special Olympics Swim Meet on Saturday, Nov. 14th in the afternoon. If you are interested in helping out, please contact the swim team office at 474-1400. They are asking for volunteers who are 8th grade and above. Last year several of our swimmers helped walk athletes to the block, time, and hand out awards. This is a good opportunity for attaining service hours for National Jr. Honor Society and National Honor Society.
