Dear PSSC
Members,
Recently, the PSSC Board has been struggling with some
issues and needs your input.
ISSUE #1: We were recently notified by
SK pool that our rental rates have increased substantially. Our practice rates for the pool will
increase 30%, effective Nov 1, 2009.
ISSUE #2: SK Pool has also increased
our hourly meet rental rate by 50%. They also increased the rates of
our janitorial and program cancellation onetime meet
fees.
These two issues impact our operating budget by
increasing our expenses by $5400. Our rates, even with the
increases, are less than nearby pool rentals. So, even with the rate increases,
we are still getting a deal.
ISSUE #3: We also learned of new
limitations that Pacific Northwest Swimming (PNS) has placed on
meet hosts for Challenge meets. In years past, each swimmer was
limited to a maximum of 10 swims per Challenge meet for short
course season.
Beginning this year, each swimmer is now limited to a maximum
number of 6 swim entries per meet for all Challenge meets. PSSC will be hosting 2
Challenge meets this swim year, which is estimated to decrease our
projected revenues by $1000 per meet, a total of
$2000.
The total impact to PSSC through these recent events is
$7400 for the 2009-2010 swim year. Currently, we have 32 families
and 40 swimmers in the pool. This amounts to $231.25 per
family or $185 per swimmer.
We, as your board, are trying to find ways to mitigate the
impact to our members.
We met Monday night to try and brainstorm ideas on how to best fill
the gap.
Please rate the following ideas by circling your response
on a scale of 1 (least desirable) to 5 (most preferred). Please provide any comments
you may have. We need
your ideas and your responses! Thank you for your
time!

(NOTE: spaghetti feed dinner, silent

participate)
We also recognize the need to promote our club to the
general public. If
anybody has any ideas on how you can do that for our club, please
let us know.
Please note that if we utilize the business sponsorship
or fundraising options, it would require most members to
participate. We would
need to put in place an evaluation system, to verify that we were
earning the money from these activities that would meet our budget
deficit.
YOUR COMMENTS (please note if you would be willing to
help administer any of the programs you would like to see
utilized)
